Another tire & wheel option with 235-55-17

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I am thinking about going with a 235-55-17 on a 17x8 wheel when my stock 18 tires need replacing in November. I can get some significantly lighter 17" wheels and the tires will be about 3/10s wider than the stock 18s. I scratched one of the 18" wheels pretty bad during a snow day and the cost of a stock replacement 18 pushes me towards a new set of wheels.

I think I can get some gunmetal (have a gray ex) MB Weapons in 17x8 with a 42MM offset which should be perfect with a 235 tire. Another forum member has done some 18x8 weapons.

The only downside is the actual speed at an indicated 60 will be about 58.9 MPH. This setup should improve handling, braking, and acceleration with very minimal impact on overall MPG. There are a wide range of tires available in the 235-55-17 size so you can get some sticker summer rubber or go with some high performance all seasons.

So if you are in the market for some lighter and more cost effective wheels and tires you might take a look at a 17x8 setup. The config I priced out cost $1200 installed.
