I did a search but never found anything that fit my requirement.

What is the widest tires you can put on the stock 20"sport wheels?

I have a 2013 M56xS and will be putting coilovers on but only going 1" which is the minimum your able to do.

I want to do 275 35 20, what are your thoughts.

Has anyone done this in the AWD model

Thanks

Andy

Sidewalls can only go in or out so far before they become at risk of loosing their bead. It seems to me, the lower the profile the tire, the less you can stretch the sidewalls (since they are shorter). What's your wheel width? I searched Google "2013 m56x sport wheel specs" and find it's 9", but you can confirm. Next, I searched google for "MAX TIRE WHEEL SIZE" and it gives a chart as well as sites with similar data. A 9" wheel can support up to a 265mm tire. Also, I tend to shy away from Max and Min. since I like to have a buffer for safety. So, I'd say 255mm width. Others may be find more risk to be acceptable.

AWD will have no effect on this. Coilovers or springs might have an effect as they could be a different diameter than your OEM springs and you don't want to rub those.

Ya the wheels are 20x9 et43. Thanks for your input, I would like to have someone who's done this but not sure anyone has.

I'll ask my friend at Big o and see what they say, probably the same as you said.

Thanks

[QUOTE=DHCrocks;1621473]I just got new tires for my car. Went with Toyo Proxes 4 Plus at the recommendation of the shop. I told him my main priority was a quiet ride since the RE050's we so loud. He said these were one of the quietest tires with a good ride, decent performance and long tread life. The treadwear rating is 560. Got 245/40/20 for the front and 275/35/20 for the rear. First impressions after about 100 miles of driving is that yes they are much quieter then the stocks. I don't have to turn up the radio nearly as much when on the freeway. I don't hear the moaning of the tires anymore. The ride is also smoother, going over bumps and the lane dividers its a softer muted transition and not the harsh bumpy ride like before. I haven't pushed it hard so can't really say anything about the handling but the ride is much better, transitions seems stable and seems to track straighter and not follow groves in the road. One thing I notice is that the car seems a slight bit more sluggish, I guess this is due to the increased width and mass. It doesn't seem as crisp when you stomp on it. The 275s are about an inch wider then the 245s. it's not as big a difference as I was hoping for, I was hoping it would look wider. As you can see in the pics it doesn't really look much different then the stock.

Heres a pic of the 245, you can see the sidewall is flush with the rim.

Heres the 275, you can see the sidewalk buldges out a bit.

That's exactly what I needed to know.

Looks like 275 35 20 are what I'm going to get.

Thanks to all for your help.

My 275/35-20's came in on Friday and I will most likely get them installed tomorrow. I'll try and post my thoughts.

I'd appreciate it, it really doesn't look as though it's a drastic change, I actually don't like how the 245 40 20 are slightly tapered. I'm looking for the tread width to match the rim width to get a slight bulge for lack of a better word.

Do you have the 20x9 sport wheels?

Thanks
Andy

The 275 above looks perfect, I would have done that all the way around.

I like the square setup even if it's not awd so they can be rotated and it's a more balanced feel, and the 275 will give you a little more rubber to protect the wheel if a curb is brushed.
