So I got the motor running and it was working pretty awesome and felt pretty strong. Decided to check my timing just to make sure everything was set correctly and found it to be ~30 degrees BTDC. Adjusted it to 15 with a timing light hooked up to the #1 cylinder coil wire and now it stumbles off idle, doesn't pull nearly as strong and won't rev past 5500 rpm. Any suggestions besides dropping like 700 bucks for Nistune and re-programming anything?

Also, anyone happen to live north of LA with a wideband? I'm going to pull the plugs tonight and check them, but it would be nice to do a run or two with a wideband in the exhaust just to make sure I'm not super lean. The only adjustment I have is fuel pressure, but if I'm super lean, I'd be ok with running 60psi to richen it up a bit until I can afford the money for nistune.

Thanks.

You connected to the CP#1 connector's wire, didn't you? I did same thing, initially I was a little off, and started tinkering with things, then all of a sudden I was 30+ off, WTF. Tinkered around some more, did same thing as you, got timing way out of whack. Then light started blinking rapidly, so I knew it was definitely seeing 2 signals. Finally after tinkering got it locked back on to #1, and got the 15deg down. Better method is to get a spark plug wire to use so you know you're only getting the signal from CP#1.

Made a spark plug extension wire and rechecked the timing. Was showing 2.5 degrees. Reset it back to where it was originally and it was showing right at 15. Definitely use an extension wire, no doubts about it anymore.
