i've done tons of searching but i'm still a little lost.i did a new clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing this weekend mostly because my T.O. was bad. when i put the clutch down i get a horrible grind/whine noise then it goes away as soon as i let off the clutch. so i figured TO. everything went smooth w/ the install and the car ran great for about 3 days. now the noise is back and worse then before. is it possible the bearing is bad again? what else could it be?

the only thing i've come up with is that the spring for the clutch pedal is getting really weak and sags. i actually put my foot under the pedal and pull it up most of the time. it could be causing the bearing to rest on the pressure plate and spin all the time which i know it's not supposed to.but still 3 days is f!@#n rediculous.thank you in advance~peace

did you grease the input shaft on the transmission and the bearing carrier? That spring at the clutch pedal is only for the rebound. My 40 does not even use the spring for the rebound and bounces back no problems. It's possible that the master/slave are leaking and not getting enough pressure through to disengage the clutch as you go through the gears.

mine's been making that..whining?? sound but only usually when its cold when i first drive as the clutch is engaging. the pedal really does feel too soft, and sometimes it's hard to shift. a lil while back my slave cylinder went bad, leaked so i replaced it. it fixed the pedal pressure problem for a about a week, it felt like a brand new clutch. then back to same ole same ole. i dunno what the problem is, someone's told me the pilot bearing, but the clutch is in great shape so if it is im just going to leave it, it is driveable at least. it stinks you cant adjust the clutch, since its hydraulic

pilot really? i did skip that i needed the car that night and didn't feel like screwing with it, and yes i did grease the shaft. i have a new slave cylinder too that i decided not to put on, b/c it's a pain in the *** to bleed and i don't like bending little metal pipes in order to remove the damper box. tougeMs13. mines more of a grind it sounds like metal scraping metal, you get anything like that.

i need to go to North Carolina in 3 days. is it safe to take the 40 or is there a good chance it will leave me stranded. thanks for such quick replies

hmm ive never had any grinding noises before, except when im shiftin extremely fast it seems like somethings loose with mine, like it takes longer for the clutch to disengage or something. besides the grinding noise, im in the same boat. yours is probably worse than mine
