so that i get this 100%

D = dampener - all the way to the right is soft and left is hard ?

G = spring adjustment - compressing the spring with the lock collars makes the ride harder/bouncy ?

E = ride height - right to lower, left to raise ?

C = shock mount

so if i want a nicer, tolorable ride, i have to extend the spring by lowering the spring perch ?

and then drop the height by rotating the whole coil over through the shock mount ?

how's my aim ?

zOMG NOOB!!!

hahahaha. For that many posts, you sure like to ask basic questions sometimes .

Anyway, direction for hard/soft & raise/lower should be obvious when you have the actual piece in hand (raise/lower depends on which way it is threaded - usually turning it to the right facing as the coilover as in the picture will lower the car; and H/S depends on the damper, but USUALLY it is right = harder).

SPL explains it best:http://www.splparts.com/doc/SPLCoilover/default.htm

The only good thing is at least you asked, I guess... there are a couple threads floating on this forum where members adjusted height purely by the spring compression, then complain that the coilover is super bouncy/harsh...

zOMG NOOB!!!
