Well its actually becoming a campaign for it as we speak. It is already out on the sentras and they are having more and more problems with the altimas.

But anyways my brake light has kinda been coming on for 30secs and then going off about once every couple days. So i made an appointment to get it checked out and the earliest they could get me in was this friday. Wellllll.... on my way to work today i was going to get on the beltline and was applying the brakes to go threw the turn and THEY DIDNT WORK. lol like i just had no brakes. so i took it straight to nissan downshifting and using the ebrake to stop.

They look it over and aparently i had a small leak in the brake master cylinder and the entire thing somehow managed to give out on me. Nissan said that it is an internal leak so its not something that will leave fluid on the ground under the car. and my brakes really never felt bad at all. They just worked one sec and where dead the next.

So you all might want to get it checked out. If your brake fluid level is getting low then that might be the reason why.

My light stays on, its been doing that for awhile. I had an appointment to get the light fixed and my passenger airbag fixed. I blew off the appointment like 6 months ago, whoops.

I think my e brake is messed up, not the issue you are having.

yea...about this airbag thing...when my gf sits there, it turns off when she falls asleep. The dealer also said because she wasnt "sitting right". They replaced it with the 2009 version, which supposedly has a better sensor...but still doesn't work correctly. This is a HUGE issue, as we drive on the highway every week...and this crap happens.

How do we escalate this to Nissan corporate?

My airbag acts funny too, I still haven't had any maintenance done at my dealer for a while and don't really feel like going there but if this brake thing turns out to be a recall then I definitely will.

Sorry about your situation man that sucks, I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't use my brakes I'd flip out in a panic hahaha.Glad you got to the dealer okay though we don't want another coupe down

We have never replaced a master cylinder in a coupe at our dealership since the car has been released. We've done a couple on sedans, but never a coupe. If this is going to become a recall, then I have no knowledge of it and I am usually one of the first ones to know since I deal directly with the technicians and they notify me immediately of any new recall parts.

I haven't had the brake problem *knock on wood*. But I have that f'n air bag problem.

And to top it off... I 'ALREADY GOT IT FIXED' at the dealership. But my gf sits in the seat correctly and the stupid light will still turn on.

well see i thought mine was the same issue. but if it is an issue with the ebrake then the little caution light on your dash will also come on and your message board will tell you that its the ebrake. just try pulling up the ebrake a little and you will see what i mean.

I thought the same exact thing about mine

if this is true can you let us know more about the airbag issue? i was told that there is a campaign out on it also and that they are replacing the sensors in the passenger seat. my nissan dealer is doing mine for me cause mine has issues when my gf is in the seat. sometimes it stays on and sometimes it turns off.

Not exactly true - I had to take my car to the dealer for the brake light problem - originally the e-brake light would just stay on, then at one point after this the "VDC off" and "slip" lights would come on simultaneously and stay on. It all starts with the brake light coming on while driving. First thing to do if this happens is to check your brake fluid. More than likely, it's low. Fill it if you can or take it to the dealer.

I had the same problem, my ebrake keeps going on and off while driving even when the ebrake is disengage. I also had a problem with the pass airbag and took it to the dealer and i was told there was a recall.

This is some crazy sh...

I just got my car a week and a half ago and im not that familiar with all the features.

Anyway I also was getting into my Car w/girl and I joked to her, "My car doesn't like you" b/c I noticed the air bag light on the dash was on..

Does this actually deactivate the air bag or is the light just illuminating and the bag will still function? I can deal with the light as long as the airbag functions if need be.

Now that you mention that, I have actually noticed it go off a few times where it really shouldnt have.

Now i have 2 things to b**** to them about that they will say cant be duplicated. Im just gonna bring my pile of service records from them and print out some recalls and see how that goes.

k but think about this. our cars are maybe a year old. it should not be getting that low on brakefluid already. unless you did your brakes and spilled some fluid. The leak i had was not visible to the eye nor did it leak onto the ground. i got my car back today and they are saying that it leaked out of the master cylinder and into the brake booster so thats why i never knew.

AIR BAG PROBLEM....... i talked to nissan today and they informed me that there is not a problem. nissan has set the airbag to turn on at around 100-140lbs is the gap. so if you dont weigh what ever yours is set at then it wont come on. Its a bunch of BS if you ask me and i think could cause ALOT of problems for nissan in court if someone 120lbs died in an accident cause the airbag didnt deploy.

Everyone knows that the light refers to the side airbags and not the front, correct?

Uhhh... no, it refers to the front air bag on the passenger side. The side air bags will go off in any impact severe enough to trigger them.

Read the manual, starting at page 1-50.

I went in to have mine checked thinking I was part of the recall. The dealer informed me that the light goes on and off because of how the passenger is sitting in the seat. If it thinks you are leaning toward the window it turns off because your head would be on it. The front passenger airbag would activate no matter what.

last i learned it was for the main airbag. incase of there being a child under a certain weight, it will turn off so it does not deploy and break the kids face, neck, etc. in an accident. the only reason it turns off when you are leaning to the side is because all of your weight is no longer being put on the sensor so it thinks you are something smaller.

Why does Nissan always have recalls?? my dad just got in the mail today about his pathfinder that if you live in "salt states" where it snows a lot and the salt can get into some CZS thing? causing it to errode.

The Pathfinder recall you are talking about is the front crash zone sensor, and they have redesigned the part to cure the issue. It is EXTREMELY important that you have that done and the parts are available (we have one and we are in the deep south just in case somebody from up north comes in here, and we have had to replace one already for that exact scenario).
