My replacement door is now primed and ready for paint. The prev. owner's wife backed into the driver door and he knocked it out with a hammer. It would have required more filler than I care to use so I picked up a Craigslist special a few mos. back.

Started on the rusty old bumper. I'm not sure what to paint it with, I'm thinking about Truck Bed Liner from Dupont. Anyone used it or something else that worked well?

I would rather prime and paint the bumper than use bedliner. Any obections anyone?

Any new abrasions on the sharp corners will eventually let moisture in anyway, so what is easier to detail: rubberized coating or primer/paint?

I just don't have faith in that liquid bedliner stuff. I used some to detail my frame a few years ago, and I just had to peel it off when the rust started to get under it. After that I just started using rustoleum paint (or equivalent).

Thanks for the input, I hope to get this ready before The 28th so it can be painted while I'm at the beach. With the amount of rust under the paint a relapse is a strong possibility. I have used rust converter on a repair inside the tail light housing in the fall that has held up well after painting so that is a option.

I'll have to keep that rust converter in mind. Body work is where I lack knowledge, but I'm getting there. That finished tailight looks good.

The rust repair was Rustolium, its the one all the way to the left. Just scuff off the loose stuff and brush on and cheap too $6.00 at W/M. Its a b**** to sand after it dries. It will turn black when its ready too prime. I used Rustolium primer in the tail light because I was painting it with a lacquer paint.

The body is being painted with Nasson 2k urethane paint and requires a compatible primer.

Finished with all the work and waiting for the painter to tell me what day to bring it.
