Ok guys..Ive had a starting problem for quite some time now..and ive finally decided to personally do something about it.

Symptoms.Turn Key. hear a click and Turn Key again.. hear another clickafter a few times of that It Usually starts..but this past week.. nothing.I turned the key.. and at first theirs a click.. then now.. theirs NO clickIt doesn't turn over when it clicks.

Ive checked my battery, alternator, and the starter was checked but i was not present for this so i doubt its accurate.checked most connections.

everything looks good

I have a new starter that im putting on tomorrow because this sounds like a starter problemif this doesn't work.. ill be out of ideas...

And now for my question.

In the Thread "Starter Problems For Those Who Search" created by SRPowered revealed a problem with the Stater Interlock Relay(or something like that)

but this was on a S13.

Where is this on the S14? Is the s14 Relay identical/interchangeable with the s13?Heres a pic of my fusebox for reference

sorry for the long post and read guys.but im fresh out of ideas..haven't driven my car in about 2 weeks!!!Im 240 Deprived.. and i think im starting to twitch..I NEED HELP!!

Just for reference, our starter relay is not in the fuse box.

It is on the passenger side fender.

and automatics don't seem to have them?

I had the same sort of problem in my auto coupe, and it just kind of went away and fixed itself. then came back, and now its fine again.

so if u figure it out, post it up!

More than likely a starter, when its not working, get a crowbar or something solid and give a good tap, hit it but dont beat the crap out of it, then give a spin, should start right up, if this happen's replace that biotch!

just throw the new starter in there. It is probably the solenoid on the starter. I had the same problem up until like 3 days ago. I just bought a new starter and it starts up every time like new.

I had pretty much the same problems, it turned out to be the starter. I'd whack the solenoid on the starter a couple times then turn the key, if the starter is bad it should turn right over.

If that don't work, theres a blue relay somewhere on the passenger side fender (i forget exactly where), its called the clutch interlock relay or something. It's there so you dont start the car without the clutch it. The relay could be bad, or the switch on your clutch that send a signal to the relay is bad.

I bet its the starter though.

edit: What they said up there ^

I had the same problems, the bolt on the solenoid was stripped AND lose which caused bad connections.

Yeah, my bad dude, i skipped over the automatic part. Your car will not have this relay, its just for manual transmissions.

Have you tried knocking on the solenoid/starter yet? I'd be willing to bet that's what it is.

Check your power wire going to the starter too, just give it a gentle tug and make sure its solid; no loose connection.

Swapped out the starter..

Was a Bi*ch getting to the upper bolt..took me a while to figure out how to get to it..

anyway..It turned out to be the Starter.it was weak..

BUT>>

I put in the NEW starter.. connected up everything.. checked grounds.-She started up the first time.. turned it off after maybe 2 mins..and went to start it again.. and nothing.. the Starter starts spinning and DOES NOT STOP,I had to DISCONNECT the neg. Bat cable for it to quit..after that every time i Go to connect the neg. cable the spinning starts again.and their are fireworks style sparks goin everywhere.

I figured it was teh new starter.. thought it was bad..Replaced it with another NEW one..

put it in.. SAME THING HAPPENED!!I think i basically messed up TWO brand new starters( i think)

my uncle said My battery may be sending too much power to the start thus causing this problem

that was concluded from the test we did wit two screwdrivers...touched to two screwdrivers to the battery.. and touched them..

The screwdrivers basically got so hot( with Fire Works style sparks) that the metal literally melted off of both screwdrivers in a few places..

that made me think the batt. has too much juice...its a 12 volt. pretty new battery.

Well Now im Frustrated..two weeks of no car.. finally had time to work on it.. and somethings still not right

anyone have any input on what might be causing this problem?

and again.. sorry for the super long post.

Two ideas...

check your battery by testing with a borrowed battery.

I also think that maybe you should check your alternator... maybe your voltage regulator is bad and too much current is being sent through the system.I know you said you checked it, it just sounds like it might be at fault
