Another SOHC Ticking Lifter Question

To the point; I have read and don't quite understand what the lifter is. Is it the little piece between the valve and rocker? Where can I find a good breakdown of the assembly and what do I exactly ask for when trying to remedy this ticking prob? Intake and Exhaust lifters/rockers? New Cam? This is a new field for me and I just want to understand right the first time.

After work I finally got the low down on the rocker/lifter assy and the ease of changing them. Sorry for the premature post, but there was no lack in research; I am a hands on person and got lucky at my local Nissan dealership-I got to talk to a head mechanic and he explained the operation of the lifters and how to change them out. Piece of cakem just remember to soak beforehand and rebuild it yourself is possible.
