I figured that title would get people to read it or flame it so whatever... Inc - Disclaimer (read before flaming so you have some good content to work with when riping my post to shreads =D)

I used the search feature on this, all it got me was a post in the tire / suspension forum with links to other sites that didnt really answer many of my questions.

When i read the stickies in this section I never saw anything - even in the very well done novice drifting threads - that answered the bassic common sense suspension setup questions. Maybe i missed it when i read them, but regardless my disclaimer is done.

On to business. Throughout my reading i never saw anytihng on how to set things up. Nothing on things like, the effect of camber and rake on front and rear wheels. Nothing about how hard or soft to make the front and rear ends. Does one want to Run the front softer than the rear? With neg front camper or no? Do you want the hardness of the susension to be even on all four wheels? Do you want low grip tires in the rear? Or the same all around? And did i miss anything? Oh and tire pressures? How the hell should i set those at when first messing around? (at the moment its understeering bad at entry and apex -- add more air to the front?)

This isnt asking the "what should i buy?" or "why not to go out and spend lots of money on X, Y, or Z" (which was well adressed in the stickies) -- Its asking how to make the most of whatever your car already has, as well as giving some rough achivement goals to keep in mind when upgrading down the road.

Ok, my kind-f-sort-of-rant-thing is over now. But I'd still like to know Basic goals of how you want the suspension to behave / be set up when drifting. Anyway i wana know what people think, and what different oppinions people have on how they approach thier setups in what they run. To see the similarities and differences between them as well as to get ideas as to what i can do with what i have already on my car.

Ok and thanks in advance.

Trial and error, no two cars are the same...no two drivers are the same. Your driving style has EVERYTHING to do with your set-up. There are no real magic numbers here. Here's mine for sh its and giggles: I run like .5 toe-in in the rear for better center stability, -2.3 camber in rear and -2 in front but with lots of caster which at full lock creates plenty of steering angle provided by an increase in camber due to the change in steering acrumen. I run 13/11Kg spring rates and full stiff (32 way) on dampening...but I have a heavy car. The car is as low as the highest speedbump where I live. I'd have it lower, but I wouldn't be able to get home..or leave home. That's the basics though for me...
