I recieved a very quick manifold building lesson at the COBY factory here in NZ. Basically I was told that you should get a pipe which seems to have the correct circumferance for the port shape you are trying to achieve. You should then crush it so that it can be tacked in place in four places- top, bottom and each side of the port. Then you can work the pipe from the ENGINE side of the flange with the appropriate sized hammer from the inside outwards untill its the right shape. EG if its a square port you can bash the corners of the pipe outwards untill its in the corners of the port in the flange.
Hope this helps.
