Sounds good man. Well, glad the situation wasn't so bad for you. Just a little mental, and that's it.

NICE! Cheapest '99 I've seen possibly ever. They're terribly overpriced locally:http://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/1560762385.html

The last good deal on a Miata I came across was in 2004, a red '90 with a few patches of peeling paint. Drove great, $1300. I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT.

actually, I could see Jesda in an S2000. not a supra though. Although, the S2000 isn't really practical, only 2 seats

Those saabs don't look like much but apparently they're a fun ride. My neighbor has one like that in red, and he won't shut up about how much fun he thinks it is.

Jesda wrote:I recently stumbled across a Saab 900 turbo convertible on Craigslist. Its an automatic with 105k for just over $1000. Has a clean interior, straight body, and power top.

The guy is getting rid of it because it needs a distributor seal, crank seal, oil cooler line seal, and has a slight miss due to oil getting into distributor. Also needs the AC topped off once in a while.

He estimates $600-$700 to fix it which probably means $1000. So for a total of $2000 I'd have a clean and nice turbo Saab. Opinions?

I don't need the car, but out of what I have now, an old Cadillac and an old Mustang, neither one is topless.

I was more than happy to enjoy several neat cars without much consequence. I finally got out of the deal when I offered him cash to take the Crossfire off my hands.

I do have too much free time though, thus the post count, but I work alone now. Most of what I used to need help for has been sourced out. No more driving 30-foot box trucks (was kinda fun though), or loading and unloading cargo in a white van the cold in the middle of the night. I've got the whole process down to a point where I can be extremely productive by myself. Renting a warehouse space and its forklift service also relieves a huge burden, as does closing the office and moving everything home, so I can make a comfortable living without having to pay a worker, without worries about quality control, without leaving home, while still enjoying a lot of time to myself.

I need to get into another business though.

I would. That Supra is cool as heck. I wonder if the ad is legit, because there's no phone number and a weird ad format (single jpg instead of written text).

However, I definitely want a fully open top convertible if its going to be a third play-car. Four seats preferred so I can load up a bicycle or other tall objects in the back.

You'd be amazed by how many people you can fit in the spare tire well of a Seville.

I was only amazed the first time I saw it. It has become old hat now. Now fitting someone into the spare tire itself, that takes god given talent.

I know what you mean, my spider senses were tinkling too.

Tried to see if there was a 300zx vert around your area.

Found a nice TT

I knew doesn't meet the 4 seat criteria, but it's sexy.

Bought it! Drives beautifully. Its quiet, tight, and quick. Paid $960.

Topping off oil. There's a leak that needs to be fixed which clogs the distributor and causes a misfire at high rpms/high boost.

Headlight wipers still work.

Turbo

Straight and clean.

Brand new top. I like how the back of it forms a spoiler.

The dashboard light went out while I was driving. I replaced the fuse but it probably will need a bulb as well. For now, the interior light will suffice.

Leather is clean and unripped but it needs restitching.

I have NO idea how the hell these climate controls work.

Heated seat! The turn stalk feels like crap and wobbles like crazy, just like my Seville. And like my Cadillac, it'll last forever that way.

Ignition in the center. That red dome light switch looks as if someone added it on.

It was 39F outside but I didn't care. I put the top down and hit the highway.

My face looked like this during the entire 2-hour drive home.

Not sure if it required premium, but I suspected that since it was boosted, it might be a good idea.

Its amazingly smooth on the highway, but like the 3-series I had, it crashes over potholes. The power comes on like a slingshot, winding up quickly and flinging you forward. The transmission is a meager 3-speed, but there's enough easy torque to make up for it.

With the top up, its quiet. With the top down, wind is manageable and the radio is easily heard. Someone put a Blaunpunkt head unit in there. Since the speakers reflect off the windshield, there's plenty of sound.

Overall, I'm extremely pleased with what I got for so little money. Its going to a Saab specialist this weekend.

Power top. Whatever shop did the top replacement did a really nice job. Its precise and well-fitted.

I used to think these cars were SO ugly when I was a kid, but I guess they grew on me.

I found a Saab specialist an hour away that does free vehicle pickup and delivery. He'll be here on Tuesday. It seems like owning one of these cars is like owning a Mac (in the old days, before it was trendy). People have a sense of trust and community.

I've actually nicknamed it "Ducky" for being an ugly duckling. The long front overhang also looks like a duck bill.

I.. for one.. love any Saab made before 95.

You never see the old ones for sale for a reason. Yet I see them on the road all the time. They are quirky cars and you're right about the secret club they have. There's one Saab independent specialist in my area. They have nothing but 4-5 star reviews online.

I really would rock a 900 SPG turbo

Congrats, welcome to the Saab club!!!

Saabs have "night panel", did you inadvertantly hit the switch and the dasboard lights went out?

saabcentral is a really good forum for Saab owners. Lots of fully illustrated DIY documents and FSMs.

Hope you enjoy your Saab as much as I'm enjoying mine!

Night panel is supposed to keep just the speedo on, right? Because I don't have lighting for that either.
