1997 240SX SE-RB25DET

Finally after almost 5 months, 4 months of bull**** with supertunermotors and the last few weeks of breaking miscellanious stuff. :D my car is finished. everything is working, she boosts amazing and is running better than i could have hoped for.

im gonna be taking it back to phoenix (as i live there and the car is in tucson) very soon. its been a pain to work on it 120 miles away.

i want to thank everyone that helped me with it. i couldnt have wired it without the help of Justin and Crieghton.

Hey Kamin. You did the wiring yourself? I'm about to wire mine and just wanted to know if it was hard for someone who hasnt done it. Thanks

yes i did the wiring myself (with the help of some friends) the s14 is a fair bit more difficult than the s13, its not hard to wire just time consuming.

you are going to need to rewire everything for the gauge cluster if you want to use the skyines. thats the hardest part.

use the "8 steps" guide for your s13, my friend here in phoenix wrote it.

CONGRATS!

I don't know about the 5.5 lb boost but the coolant leak is minor. At least you can drive your car again. I'm happy for you. I hope mine can turn out like that or better.

I thought the stock boost on the RB25 is 7 lbs.? So why would you need a manual boost controller? Possible leak in the piping system?

Where is your coolant leaking from? engine, hoses, radiator? loose nut, coupling, rotted hose?

it should be around 7, im 99% sure there is no boost leak serious enough to cause it to cap at 5.5 because it spools and hits 5.5 and sticks there. dosent spike over it, dosent drop below it.

and its leaking from the lower hose @ the radiator, just need to double clamp the hose one behind the rib, one on it.

but thats another trip to tucson to finish. stupid school and work.

Curious, did you use the autozone #190 lower rad hose that was posted in another thread?

That's cool though. You don't even need to completely take off the hose. That seems like a minor repair. If I were you, and yes I've done it before, call in sick for one day and just enjoy your accomplishment.

I believe the RB25 motors have a 2 stage boost controller. There should have been a boost cut solenoid on the left apron in betweent he charge pipes and the waste gate. Check and make sure that A)you have it hooked up correctly and B)it is actually working. Your boost should be 5PSI up to 5800RPM and 7PSI after if I remember correctly. It has been a while since I drove mine.

when we're working on joes motor that also threw me off that he didnt have a boost seleniod. just figured it was his type 2 that didnt have it. but come to think about it, he has the plug.

might need to check back on your clip joe!

LOL no my turbo is not blown gani.

you know the only thing related to boost i could find is for the gauge cluster meter (one that connects to the intake manifold on a seperate sub harness than the ECCS). to be honest im not sure if i took it up to 6000 to see if it opened up after that. its hard to do that in town because there is no traction in first and thats like 60ish mph in second, i think im going down tommrow to get the car, ill figure it out soon enough when i can open it up on a freeway.

That is the boost SENSOR, not the boost cut solenoid. I am looking for a picture of the solenoid for you

yea i realize that, but im saying thats the only thing even related to boost i could find anywhere on that engine/clip that would conect to a hose/charge pipe or use a vacuum line.

A hose from the TB (full vac and boost) the the waste gate should provide full factory boost and control. The factory control system is not needed unless you want it

what PSI is the wastegate set for, maybe it is set for 5.5 PSI and the boost controller lets it bleed off pressure to reach 7 PSI. Or maybe it will be the other way around? I dont really know.

i found a picture on SDU so dont worry about that picture jon, i dont have that connected, as i suspected, but i also dont remember seeing it anywhere on my clip or disconnecting it when i removed the engine. i think i would have remembered something that connects to the wastegate line.

well it dosent matter right now anyway, i have no way of getting the car to me for a week it looks like *sigh* its so depressing to finish it and drive it for the weekend then have to leave it at home lol
