Well I have pretty much decided on getting an rb20det for my 90 240, I just have a few questions...

I am under the inpresion that you dont need a custom driveshaft for this swap...is this correct?

Will the clutch made for an sr20 work in this transmission?

Does anyone know who makes a good set of turbo cams for this engine? and where I can get them from?

Does greddy or anyone else make an intake manifold for this engine?

Now this next question I have been looking for the answer for a while now and cant find...

At what wheel horsepower do you need to rebuild the rb20 block?...350?...400?....425??

I have seen many people say that the sr20 is good for 350 rwhp, but that is the threshold point on it. I have not seen anyone say when the rb20 will start to give though. Pretty much way down the line like in another 2-3 yrs or so, my final goal is to have like 400 rwhp. That is my reason for the rb20 instead of the sr20. Unfortunatly the rb25 is kinda outta my budget for now.

One more thing....I plan on doing simple maintenance to the engine before it goes in...t-belt, water pump, hoses...etc...., but what does everyone else do for cooling? Do you guys get electrical fans and keep the stock radiator or ditch the old radiator?

Thanks for everyones time.

Before anyone else says this, http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....hp?s= .

I think most of your answers can be found on the first couple pages in this very forum.

From my very limited couple weeks of research...

You can use the KA driveshaft on an RB20, but it's supposedly weaker than the RB due to awkward angling.

You can use a clutch from a 90-96 300zx non-turbo.

HKS, JUN, Tomei make some cams I believe.

Haven't seen a Greddy intake manifold yet for an RB20. Try unstable-hybrids, http://www.unstable-hybrids.com/installkits.htm.

Most people say 400whp is the limits. That's what I am going for, so I will be upgrading the headgasket at least.

As far as the radiator is concerned, use the KA's and get some new electrical fans that will fit. Costs around $100.

Use that search feature, it will keep the natives from getting restless.

Here's a good place to start, http://www.that dead forum/sh...=8979

I have one more question. Has anyone ever had a custom driveshaft made by this place? http://www.pstds.com/driveshafts.cfm If so then for what engine and what were the measurements you gave?

Someone posted up that site before, but I dont recall anyone ever posting the measurments of the driveshaft. I dont know what measurements to give these guys to make a custom one for me.

Thanks and does anyone else have anymore input on my above questions?

dont worry bout cams yet I would be looks andstrenghtening at or above 400 hp fueling is the key as the stockinjectors run out at 300-320 hp sowhen you put a bigger turbo on make sure you check the fuel when cranking up the boost.an after market intake manifold including hte rb 26 will off only gains at high rpm and you will loose performance in the low to mid range the stock intake is good to 450 500 hp.cheersmeggala

thanks for the help meggala. have you ever made 400rwhp on a stock bottom end with an rb20? how much torque would the rb20 make at ~400rwhp? I am still kinda torn inbetween the rb25 and the rb20. I would like to get 400rwhp reliably out of the rb20 but not much more than that.

I have been told that the rb20 can withstand up to 400wrhp on stock internals. When I got my driveshaft modified to fit an rb20 into a s13 silvia, it measured 1111mm.

I didn;t have to get a custom drive shaft made, it fit right in, you just need to cut the dust shield off of the transmission in the back where the shaft goes into.

If your car was manual to start with, I think in some cases you can just use the skyline yoke and it bolts to the rest of the driveshaft. If it was auto, like in my case, it has to be modified.
