When i say another, i don't mean that i've made one, just that everybody and their mom has made one i see one every week. But i've installed many a head unit with no problems, this ones just being a little b****.All i've done so far is remove the factory head unit (from 1989), i wanted to put a new one in because it had problems even being on, but now with my new one halfway in im realizing the head unit wasn't the problem. I don't even have the speaker wires hooked up, no reason to until i get the deck working.
I've connected the red wire from my deck to the red/black wire from the car, and the yellow acc wire from the deck to the blue wire from the car, and the car didn't have a ground wire so i made 2, one connects to the bolt on the shift boot holder thing and the other is connected to the metal bracket bolted behind the radio hole. And then i connected the black wire from the deck to those.
When i go to turn the car on, the deck turns on, lights up and says the time, but 10 seconds later it goes off. If i hit the eject button, it turns back on, just to say eject and give me my cd, then turns off again. If i hit the display button it turns on for a second and shows me the time, and 5 seconds later goes back off. None of the other buttons (including the power button) do anything. And it won't let me stick a cd in it. Any ideas?
I thought maybe there was something wrong with the power source so i tried a different red wire i found laying under the dash trim, and same thing with it. I have no voltometer so i cant check to see if it has constant voltage, but why wouldnt it?
