Hi guys!! I posted awhile back about a problem I was having with my car. For example when I go through a sharp curve and slow down my RPM's will jump up and then back down untill it find where it needs to be. Plus the car will surge forward but not jerk.

I called the place where they replaced the master & slave cylinder and told them everything that you guys suggested. He took it for a MAYBE 1 minute test drive and came back and told me my clutch was shot and I needed a new one like right now. Thing is they supposedly checked my clutch when they replaced the master & slave and told me that is was great......I'm not wanting to point fingers, but I am really upset right now. Any ideas?? I mean my last car I had to replace the clutch in I knew my clutch was going bad....I could just tell. Besides the RPM issue I haven't noticed anything else. How could I tell if the clutch was going bad now?? Is there something to look for?? They pretty much didn't even listen to anything I told them about you guys suggestions or ideas.

Thanks in advance for any help....And I apoligize if this comes off harsh or anything!!

I would still like ideas from you guys about the clutch going bad.

Thanks again!!

from my experience, if you are in-gear, with a manual transmission, and the clutch pedal is not depressed, and it surges like that, theres 2 things.

If Revs climb but you dont accelerate, then the clutch is slipping, is your foot on the gas? if so, then its your clutch, if not, its probably a combination of the slipping clutch, and one or more components in your air/fuel delivery system

If revs climb and you DO accelerate, then its probably one of your air/fuel delivery components.

if it is case #2, then you should have that looked at ASAP, cuz that is a serious safety risk, you car could accelerate you off the road, or into another car. bad bad.

My foot is on the gas, but I'm not necessarily gassing it. It is still going along it's more of a 'rev rev'. Does that make any sense? It doesn't do it alot....it seems to do it more when I am lower on gas---this could be pure coincidence but I sorta just realized it. Anyway, thanks for the reply 89-240-TX. I don't drive my car alot....mostly to do errands, to & fro my son's school etc. But next week he is going to take the bus and I'm having it looked at on Weds.

Anyone else? I'm trying to cross my fingers it's not a clutch......(That's my beach trip money:( :D )

plain and simple, if you're in gear, and your foot is on the gas, doesnt matter if you're 'giving it gas' or just giving it a little bit to sustain speed as you turn, and the revs go up, but the car doesnt speed up, then its your clutch slipping, for one reason or another

To see if the clutch is slipping take off in first gear once you reach your shift point shift to forth instead of second punch the throttle to the floor (use normal clutch operation for the shifting). if the rpms climb up to red line or climb without the next possible senario your clutch is toast. If the car bogs and feels like its gonna die if you dont put the clutch back in your clutch is fine.

I did what you suggested and my car didn't really do either. The RPM's went up a tiny bit but it didn't act like it was going to die either. I tried it 2 other times and it was the same result both times. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Hey Guys!!! Just wanted to give an update. I found a really great mechanic to work on my car. He said when my slave & master were replaced they screwed something on too tight and it wore more clutch out quicker. It was well on the way to out....but that didn't help. He replaced my clutch, cleaned up my flywheel, and everything for 450.00. It is sooo nice to have my power back!! He said he didn't even know how my clutch was grabbing....it was gone!! We went to the beach last week and it drove like a dream!! I drove the whole way down b/c I was enjoying my car so much!!

Thanks guys for all of your help!! You have NO IDEA how much I appreciate this forum!!!!!:ylsuper
