Ok..

Its around 0C here, beginning of winter.I haven't driven the car in ONE day and its been sitting in my driveway. Today I go and turn it on to move it from one spot to another and as soon as i hit my START ENGINE button..

TCK TCK TCK TCK TCK TCK TCK TCKTCK TCK TCK TCK

That noise sounds about 3-4 times a second and kinda sounds like my exhaust is rattling from underneath. However, I put my ears underneath my car and followed the noise to my engine. I popped the hood, (Its night time right now) and boom.. its louder.Im earr'ing around and find out that the sound is loudest right above the 3.5SE logo on the engine cover. I play around with whatever I can touch in the engine near that area and find nothing.

Also, when im moving the car i can ONLY HEAR THE NOISE WHEN THE CLUTCH IS FULLY DEPRESSED. So once the transmission is engaged, the noise is gone.. completely. However, when its at idle (neutral) or clutch all the way in, the sound is hearable.

A week ago i had this problem where i started my car only to find that the clutch was fully depressed and stuck. Does this have somthing to do with this?

I'm so angry at the situation right now, everytime I have problems with the car its during a very stressful part of my life... exams.First year i had this car the windows would go down all the way by themselves, they went down on the night of the first blizzard that hit Toronto. I had to get it towed because everything inside was frozen. (OF course, this was during teh day of my exam) Again, my exams approach and yet another problem..

What to do.. What to do..

Nissan ..Nissan........Nissan.............

Time to trade it in for a 370z...

Well, what is happening is, one of your valves are ticking. Usually happens to high mileage engines that have had stressful lives.

Since your car is new, I would say your oil level is proabably low. Go check it. If its at the right level, chances are the oil that was replaced in your car the last time you did an oil change had a viscosity to thin for canadian winter. Go change your oil to a heavier weight. 10W30 should be fine.

I beleive i'm using 5-30 right now, which is within the range of temperatures we experiance over here.. Ill go check if the engine oil is abnormally low right now, last time i changed it was maybe 3-4k before. It shouldnt be the oil.. but thanks anyways.

Well, if you want to believe you engine in dying. Go ahead. But its just your type of oil mixed with the Canadian cold.

I'm running 5W30 with no problem. In fact most people will recommend 5W30 over 10W30 in the winter as it flows better on a cold startup.

Sorry to hear another problem with your Coupe.

Are you really going to trade it in for another Nissan, the 370Z?

I don't think I can put my hard earned money towards Nissan again if I was you. I had this experience with Pontiac and I'm done with GM/Domestics. Besides don't you want something different?

Sorry to go off topic.

I honestly don't believe that the car I happend to purchase is representitive of the population of other coupes out there. I've heard a great deal of problems with the coupe, but I have no experience purchasing other NEW vehicles that were just released, so I have nothing to compare it with.Yeah, im pissed off at everythin that I've had to deal with but.. Why does the VQ have to be so sexy??

Seriously, If the Altima didn't drive like it does now (w/o the VQ) I'd be off of nissan and maybe into hondas. (High RPM, fart can exhaust, seems fun ) But, Since ive felt the power and heard the roar of the VQ im addicted.Im a Nissan fan.It sucks, Im totally biased.Ill stop being a Nissan fan if my A/C completely breaks down on me sometime in the next few years, which i hope doesnt happen.

And for the 370z comment...

Hah, I'm just dreaming.

Theyre going to be around 55k here after tax, as compared to the 32k model down in the states. Unless I can purcahse it down there and somehow get it up here ill do it. But again, thats me dreaming
