Recently i hit some black ice causing me to spin out into a mail box, i think a telephone pole and a ditch.. My passenger side front fender got trashed so i need a new one. But i was thinking and ive always like the silvia s13 front end, i like the way it looks on the hatches. So my question or poll was. Should i just get a new fender and leave my car be for now or go ahead and try to do the front end conv now?....I love having the flip lights but i also love the s13 front end on the hatches.. Thanks guys.

my opinion is a sil front on a hatch looks alot cleaner and newer than pop ups

ya i didnt mean for that to be an attack on your comment, i was just trying to express how i dont believe the OP should make this decision based on opinions from a forrum... just from his own...

I think that for me right now the best decision is to spend the money on a replacement fender...maybe a pig lip too, and put the rest of the money to better use...Upgrading suspension, maybe down the road ill do a silvia front end on my car but i thought about it today and ide rather have the flip lights with upgraded suspension than a silvia front with stock suspension. Thanks for your alls input. But im still definatly considering the silvia front end conv in the future maybe once i get all my suspension done.

You know, honest to God I don't think the S13 Silvia front looks good at all. I mean just stand back and look at it for a second, as a 'car' ...not as a mad-tyte-jdm-turbo-drift-coupe, just as a car. Its a couple of square headlights framing a square grill above a square bumper. If that exact same front end were on something as boring as a honda accord or toyota camry, you guys would all think it was hideous. But since it just happens to be on a renowned performance/drifting platform, suddenly its the hottest s*** around. C'mon guys, step outside the jdm box for a second...

well i stood back and looked... and realized i just dont like pop ups...

and you say if they were on an old accord or camery, no one would like them...

wait a second....

dont old boxy preludes have pop ups?...and old integras have brick style head lights?....

sooo yeah... not everyone is high on the jdm hype

Hey now. Silvia fronts look good on hatches. I thought my car looked pretty good with one.

Image

It's all up to YOU though, it is your car. If it's going to end up just spray bombed and mismatched, the money would be better spent on fixing your current front end and saving for something else.

I don't know I'm just not feeling it. I understand that a lot of people do honestly like it, but I don't doubt for a second that there are also plenty of guys out there that just think it looks cool because its a silvia, not because its actually visually pleasing to look at.

Jeremy Clarkson (Top Gear) says the same thing about Ferraris. Basically we're conditioned to think that all Ferraris are beautiful, because, after all, they're Ferraris. But if you actually look at them, a lot of them don't look that great at all. F430 anyone? Who honestly drew those dinky little retarded looking headlights on the front of that car, stood back and said "Oh yeah, that's just gorgeous!"

So this goes back to the point we're all making. Build your car so that YOU think it looks good, not what you've been conditioned to think looks good.
