After ten years, Honda is axing the Element. I say good riddance. Never did like these. I never drove one, but I never had a desire to either. The irony of it all, their biggest competition comes from within. The CR-V is outselling them like crazy. 939 Elements sold in November versus 18,000+ CR-Vs sold in November.

yes. maybe with the disappearance of that horrible looking thing, there will be room for more innovative (and i don't mean hybrid-ugly) designs. maybe another rwd platform can be added to the lineup.

Pretty sure Honda forgot how RWD works after they axed the NSX...

lol. They haven't forgotten.....Too much pressure from the fanboys who own over 50% of the company is what's keeping the rwd out of the mix. the s2000 is ok and all, but i'd like to see more rwd and awd.

I think we need this from all car companies.

Lol. Totally forgot about the s2k. Fun car, but needs more torque. Granted, that can be said of most every Honda.

I rather liked them, but they were a rather focused design. If Honda had cared to, some refinement would have gone a long ways. It didn't change much in it's 9 year run.

I liked the Element. We call complain about roads crowded with SUVs, but when somebody comes along with a practical (if quirky) alternative nobody buys them.

I liked them better than the xD or Cube. You could even get them AWD!

Element didn't add paint until people stopped giving a crap. No one wants to pay for a car with an unfinished paint job.

I think that the unpainted corners were a good thing for the folks driving in the woods, etc. They had rubber floor mats and a very large interior space - you could stand your bike up-right and fully assembled in them. Make a mess and hose the inside out. Tight turning radius too. For what they were, they did have poor MPG. Folks that liked them, LOVED them. Lighter and with a better MPG, I would have considered one for my drive way.

Honda < Fun

Ridgeline will get the ax next.

If they try again and give it Mini-like handling, sharper styling, and a turbo-4 or diesel, I would drive such a box.

^This.
If I had to choose between a CRV or a Smell-ement then I'd go with the latter. At least it has some character.

I like Elements, not least because you can fit two extended Ruckus' in the back.

It's a neat practical car, IMO. Just large enough to be really useful in hauling stuff, but still small enough to be a "city car"
