Swapped everything over last week. Had a slight heating problem which was fixed by removing thermostat and then finding a piece of gasket maker behind my waterpump.....Everything is running great at 8psi with enthalpy ecu. Went for a 20minute cruise and on my last pull from 5th gear startign at 40mph something goes wrong when I hit 100mph.... I let off.... and then the backfiring begins... Excessive blowby and all my ic piping is covered in oil........ able to clean the plugs and limp her back home with a big smoke cloud....Engine 1: Spun rod bearingEngine 2: overboost piston rings wentEngine 3: Was engine 1 Engine unbolted itself and hg wentEngine 4: Less than 100miles and the pistons go bad...

Just another day in my life....

Yea there's been far to many "i blew my ka up" threads lately. Oh well I guess the stock motor is only good for so much abuse.

Nope, it will be me. Anyway, that sucks, I wonder if you would have been better off if you hadn't let off of the gas. I would think it runs super lean and more advanced, no?

Damn i took a few days off of checking the forums and come back to 2-3 more I blew it up threads, freaken depressing.

Any idea what cuased this failure? Sounds pretty strange getting blowby on brand new rings. To me i would have to say you gaped them incorrectly or didnt break them in.

Are you going to tear apart the block and figure out what went south? What are your plans, man you have a brutal ka-t history, i feel for ya. :/

Florida We must be related!!!! I think if there werent for bad luck there were be no luck at all. I am thinking I have no compression in my brand new motor. I think cams jumped teeth and valves and piston wanted to share spaces!!!!!!! I havent even gotten it to fire up yet. comp test tomarrow and part out my kat setup to buy rb20det!!!!

So sorry for your bad luck dude!!!! I feel your pain.

Dizamn I've noticed alot of "Kaboom" threads lately aswell and not just on this forum, it must be something in the air. I must have started this chain reaction when my wiring harness went up in flames at the track a few weekends ago!

Is this a stock engine or did you go with forged internals?

Sorry to hear you having such bad luck. Been there done that.

Engine 1: Ran the best developed Rod Knock after install JWT ECU raising boost.

Engine 2: Bought it from NICO member in Tennessee Broke ring lands after raising boost.

Engine 2: Rebuilt Engine 2, still running balanced entire rotating assembly, AMS basic with ARP hardware but not running like it should.

I have thought long and hard about a 302. Maybe I will try it after I blow this one (after my experiences it is not when).

Rebuilding my built engine lol.Now I got enough blocks to build them all up. This engine was 130k.... I boosted my orginal at 174k....Just a matter of getting an abused enigne and boosting it and boost and bad engine don't mix... All my engine failures have been abuse or neglect problems not the motor.
