first things first...s13wheels will be 18's... don't hatei was thinking something like 9's out back and 8's in the frontleaning towards spl coilovers300zx brakes

width of the rims seem about right?>?i'm willing to roll the fenders slightly... will i need it?>?what sort of offset am i looking at?>?

i'm looking for a nice flush look somewhat like the pictures below... maybe a bit wider tires to protect from curbs

The fronts are the first and worst problem. With GP Sports coilovers and 15x7 +35, I have 5mm clearance in between the tire and coil.

How will an 8" wheel clear a coilover, and still fit underneath the fender? +25 is the offset to start test fitting at. Get out the fender roller and trial & error I suppose...

No offense, 18" rims are fine but on a s13 i think you will have some rubbing/fitment/severe camber issues, esp if you want coilovers (I think on s14's you can get away with 18's). Unless it's going to be a showcar you might be in for more trouble than it's worth.

Can't be done (wider tires than in those pics) - Here's why:

Unless you want to exceed the stock overall diameter, the WIDEST 18" tire you can reasonably run is a 225/40/18 (this is somewhat taller than stock).

Anything wider is also going to be taller, unless you can find some super-exotic 30 or 35-series tires (which is gonna be super expensive).

If you're lowered, sticking with OEM diameter is almost mandatory, anything taller is gonna rub.

so sticking with 17's would be a better idea i suppose... sorry for being a newbie to the whole suspension & wheels thing... but would it be easier to have 17x9 in the back and 17x8 in front than having 18's?>? i pretty much want the most lip i can get, type of idea

try something like this.

17x9 +15 in front use a 215 40 1718x10 +35 in rear and use a 225 45 17

should look pretty sweet.

17x9 +30 R33 wheels don't fit under the car. You want to do what with a +15?

Or... how about...

17x9 +15 w/ 235/40/1718x10 +35 w/ 255/40/17

I'd put down a thousand dollars that I could outrun you with my setup than doing some bull**** stretch job so that all your buddies think your "drifter" l337.

you have spacers(?), thats not "fitting", my 17x7.5 30mm are damned close...-chetalso, why would you want to strech such tiny tires on wide wheels? baka. just because its "uber drift cool" doesnt mean its better. kinda like the "jdm tyte" craze..."drift spec" has become to nissans what JDM is to Honda.

One of the main reasons to stretch tires is the ability to push the wheels to the outermost part of the fender (flush). You can't do that unless you stretch the tires so running wider tires is out of the question for that "look". The nice thing about stretching small tires over wide wheels is that you allways have the ability to go with a wider tire. If you are just learning to drift/doing lower speed stuff, then wider tires are not going to help you. Plus, from it experiece, stretched tires feel better, even though there might be a slight weight penalty with bigger wheels.

BTW, huge wheels, with huge lips, with stretch, low profile tires didn't originally come from a JDM drift craze. I think was mostly german cars that sported this look from the 1980's on. Even the other day, I saw a nice looking mercedes rocking some super stretched 18's in the front and 19's in the rear.
