First... I have a 96 240sx SE w/ 5lug hubs..

Soooo... as i'm getting closer to tearing everything apart to install my calipers a question popped into my head...

Do i NEED the 300zx drum e-brake assembly?

I'm guessing i don't have ebrakes if i don't swap that in... right..

I read and read and read... and i already know i need the conversion lines and was going to get the R33 brake cables for the swap...

I'm not a car noob by far (maybe just a conversion noob) but it never dawned on me that i might need these EXTRA pieces for the swap....

Also, is there no way around getting the drum e-brake assembly?

Thanks in advance...

You do need e-brake assembly for sure.

The z32 hub is required if you are swapping the rear brakes to Z32. The S14 hubs don't have the necessary flange to keep the e-brake pin in place. The turbo model has some metal you need to grind off in order to fit properly. Avoid the turbo hubs if you can.

Since ur going to change the rear hubs only, you do not need to worry about abs housing...

BUt when ur doing the fronts as well keep that in mind.. I am running into that prblem right now.

You need the ebrake/backing plate setup, but you do NOT need the 300zx hub, as it's the same thing as an s14.

http://www.importnut.net/300zxbrakeswap.htm

The s14 knuckle already has the necessary hole for the ebrake hardware, you just need two washers to fill the gap that will exist.

That's where i'm confused because the importune website says' s14 or z32 and then another website said something about the s14 not having the proper "flange" or whatever it is which is needed for the e-brake.. but even looking at picutres of the z32 hub.. i don't see a "flange"...

So S14 5lug hub is perfectly fine to use... saves me some cash....

This is what everyone is flustered over:

That extra 'flange' at the top of hub on the right is not there on s14 hubs. Doens't need to be; to fill that gap, put a couple washers.
