Alright I've been working on my CA swap for close to 2 years now, I had it running on a stock setup (just had intercooler, and exhaust) blew the stock turbo up so I decided to do some upgrades. My current setup is a walbro 255, skyline 444cc injectors, Z32 maf, S15 turbo, full exhaust, ssac front mount, and a mine's vx-rom ecu setup for the above setup (but with a skyline turbo instead of the S15 one). Now I replaced my timing belt cover so I had to remove the CAS and then reinstall it. Anyway I tried starting the car today, heard the fuel pump prime, cranked it over and all it did was just crank, it would puff a little roughly every 3-5 seconds but nothing more. I touched the exhaust manifold and only 1 of the runners was warm. I pulled all the plugs and they were all fouled from fuel, so I cleaned them up and reinstalled them, same problem. My friend decided maybe the CAS needed adjusting, so he moved it a little (I know I didn't use a timing light, stupid-@ss me). Nothing happened, pulled the plugs, fouled again! Cleaned them up, reinstalled everything, tried cranking, same problem. I did this about 3 times and got fed up. Since I can't get the motor running I can't really adjust my timing at all (unless I want to just crank and burn my starter out and drain my battery). I checked my ecu and no codes came up (other than the obvious code 55). I've come up with a few possible conclusions and I wanted the input from you long-time CA owners before I go ahead with anything.

Possible problems

1.) Walbro is overloading the injectors = too much fuel = fouling plugs (might need to buy a Nismo FPR)

2.) Timing is uber fubar (dunno how to fix that)

3.) Bad coilpacks = no spark (new coils are expensive which is crap for me)

4.) Bad CAS (seems like that would throw a code, maybe I need a new CAS)

I don't want to just go throw parts and more money at this thing without finding out what's wrong first (or at least getting a good idea) I'm really leaning towards the fuel pump thing but I don't have a gauge to check my fuel pressure. Help me out guys!

EDIT: I also wired in a Z32 ignitor, if that makes any difference.

Try the OEM ecu just to see if it cranks.

Tried that, it cranks over fine but just isn't catching and firing to stay running.

what about the maf? ignitor?check and see if the coil packs are igniting too using a multimeter.mine did the same thing when i first got it just open the throttle and use carb cleaner to see if it will fire

Found the culprit. I did so deep archive searching around the forums and found a few people who had the little half circle shaped tooth on the exhaust cam (the one that fits into the CAS) break when they were reinstalling their sensor. So I thought, hmm maybe that's the problem, (since most everything else on the car is new, minus the coils, which were sparking) I pulled off the CAS and looked inside it and sure enough, there was the little half circle shap from the cam broken off just chillin inside the CAS. Well if I'm not mistaken, it looks like I need a new exhaust cam. That's what I get for not being careful. I hope this fixes it because frankly I'm getting fed up with problems

At least you took the initiative to search good for the info you seek and I hope you square away your little problem.

Thanks guys, am I correct that I need a new exhaust cam, there's a guy locally who said he might sell me one.
