I recently acquired an 85 300ZX 5 speed non-turbo car for free. As they say you get what you pay for. I was told that the battery was junk (which it was) and it needed a starter (which was not true). The car cranks fine with the new battery but it won't start. I don't think I have spark because I put a spark tester on it and I don't see spark. However, I don't understand exactly how the factory security system works and I don't know if this has anything to do with it. The light blinks with key off, it used to continually blink with key in "on" position, now it doesn't blink in "on" position. I have seen some other posts that say remove the security fuse but that didn't change anything. As far as I can tell, the fuel pump is good. I tested for continuity at the pump and it is okay. Power is at the connector to the fuel pump. Also, possibly unrelated the digital dash is not working. None of the guages work but all the "dummy" lights come on. I added 2 gallons of gas so I know it does have fuel in the tank. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have a vg30e s12 200sx and when I first got it I couldnt figure out why it wouldnt start. It had no spark and no matter how many coils or distributers I replaced it did nothing so I took it to a shop and they found a ground wire inside my harness that was broken. Check all of your grounds.

Welcome to Nico!the problem could be the ignitor, looks like a quarter glued to a piece of metal, mounted on the drivers side fender behind the headlight near the coil, it's what converts the ECU signal to the propper signal for the coil, and is the fuel pump pressurizing the lines? when you rotate the key to the on postion it should come on for a second to pressurise the line, just pull the line and point into a bucket while someone else rotates the key to verify you have fuel, the digital dash is a common problem, you can get used units on ebay or swap to analog
