Yeah, I know there are swirl marks and whatnot in the light, but I just did a quick job and the cas will cover the view of this.

Sorry, but I have to give a thumbs down on the premise of an exposed timing belt. All it takes is something to fall in there or catch and its bye bye engine. If there was a way to make an acrylic timing cover, now that would be sweet. A for effort though

Yeah, I would be very worried that something would fall down in there. I still think its hot though.

to each their own I guess. Ive heard many threads of people having done this years ago without any problems. Also, I have adjustable timing gears I want to show off =). Not to mention that I will be painting a spare set of valve covers bayside blue only to be put on when I show the car off, along with this timing cover. It's will be 90% for show. The odd time if I go to a meet, I will leave it on. Or I could try to make a cover of some sort

I have mine cut because i would rather be able to keep an eye on the belts condition, tension and make sure the came gears are still secured on there. That and for the day when i get adjustables.

I ran mine uncovered for quite awhile after I swapped it into the MG due to some clearance issues. I've since swapped to a different hood and put the timing cover back on. It never caused me any problems, but I know Ryan had some issues with it.

run the engine under tray and you'll eliminate some of the possibility of a rock bouncing up into your engine bay.

float did have an issue, but it didnt cause his belt to skip a tooth, but rather burned a groove into one of its edges.

another member has advised that if the upper cover isnt being run/modified then your better off with no lower cover as well as it will act like a funnel.

i cant recall if i listed what I did above but I went all the way down to 800 grit. Anything lower than that and the pads got loaded with aluminum dust within 4 passes of sanding. I then just used a pad to fine sand the crevases to make sure I wouldnt wreck the buffing pad when I went to buff it. Then I jused used some rubbing compound. The process from start to finish with the mod took about 2 hours.

Like I had mentioned. It was just a quick job.

........... stupid me.

Ok. I'm going to redo it and use a better buffing pad on the weekend.

I'll post better pics on late Saturday if I finish my engine early
