Hello!

I have been lurking in this forum for a couple of weeks now, and I decided to finally come out of the dark corner.

I ordered an Altima Coupe on June 18; the dealer expects it to be delivered August 19th or so. It is a 3.5SE 6MT Super Black. It has premium and tech packages, kick plates and mats. The dealer called me two weeks ago - the factory said no more '08s - I will get an '09. They have none in AVR and none available for dealer trade. The funny thing is, I drove one at the same dealer a week before I placed my order. It was the exact car I ended up ordering, but it left on a dealer trade the day after I drove it. The salesman told me I should buy it that night, because it was leaving the next day. I figured that he was just trying to get the sale. I had no idea MT's were so hard to find!

hmm, right now maybe. Only due to demand, normally MT's have a slightly/significantly lower resale value due to the fact that average joe doesnt want to shift gears all the time in day to day traffic. But hey, if they dont make 6MTs anymore after this year, I will be wrong lol.

Welcome to the forum motoman! congrats on the purchase.

I just hope I can get a good finance offer when it is delivered.

When I ordered it, they offered me 0%-36 or 3.9%-60. This changes monthly, and Nissan doesn't let the dealers know what rate offer is coming for the next month. The dealer will honor my negotiated deal for the 08 model and give me that price, even though it will be an 09.

That is exactly what happened to me, but 5 to 6 weeks later one was found on its way to a dealership nearby. I doubt you will get the same finance offer as they cannot hold onto that unless the contract was signed. Although since you could now rightfully walk away from the vehicle when it comes in and get your deposit back you could find out if the dealer can shave anymore off the cost of the car to get you closer to the payment you want.

That was my problem. They can't start a contract without a VIN.

i had the same exact issue. car dealerships are so useless, there are multiple stories on these forums of people signing paperwork for a special order at the beginning of june, and then 3-5 weeks later hearing they are SoL.

My story:- Fully loaded 3.5SE dark slate special ordered on may 30th

- called dealer on the 15th, concerned b/c i heard this story on these forums, wanted to double check, the dealer assured me "A deal is a deal, you will get the car you ordered" BULLSH!

- around june 25th dealer finally admitted that i may be getting an 09. MAY BE!? are you SERIOUS!? they could not give me a definitive answer concerning my thirty thousand dollar investment so i just told him, find me a car like it before the 30th so i dont get screwed on my interest rate.

- found me dark slate 3.5 SE 6MT with premium. it was in route to a penn. dealership, and could not be rerouted, so another $400 now to have the car DRIVEN (ADDING MILES TO MY NEW CAR) to CT for me.

- supposed to arrive in penn on july 2nd and driven to CT on the 3rd, and in my hands on the 5th.

- still have yet to hear word that it exists in penn. yet.

I now have a severe, deep rooted, insanely driven, HATRED for car dealerships.

I think I'm gonna just goto dealerships and order a bunch of 3.5SE 6 speeds, just so they are on the lots around the country! Since you dont have to sign a contract

Financing is not an issue for me, I would obviously just like to get the best rate.

My bank can't (won't?) match the specials Nissan offers; they can likely beat the standard rates, though. I may only qualify for a standard rate now that I am getting an '09. I don't even know what that would be for me; I was only offered special rates at the dealer. From what I've seen here, their standard rates seem to run from 5% to 8% for whatever it's worth. Location and credit history obviously affect these numbers.

I would really just like to get my car!

from reading your 1st comment -

6mt's will be availible in the 09's... that's music to my ears. I would have been a little bitter if this car went the automatic only route.
