I realize they are totally different in almost every way. I've been bouncing back and forth on this for a few weeks. I'm going on test drives soon.

I vote M3. Everyone and their mother has a subaru. Plus, I miss my old E36 318.

dammmmn, thats a tuff choice. I would probably have to go with the scooby tho. It would be more practical and great in the snow.

I'm sure my answer to this question is going to obvious. If your cash flow is really good get the M3, its not a question if it will break down. its a matter of when. Looking back before I had my STi I looked at the E36 M3 too. I passed on them only cause I knew there going to cost more to maintain. E36 M3 is a really nice car, but STi FTW.

I voted the Subie. I have never driven either, but I have heard that all BMW's are electrical nightmares.

All euro cars seem pretty f'd with wiring issues. Most can be corrected with a little help others are just wrong from factory or something.

Ugliest M3 thus far imo. Best is the 88 M3 imo. Followed by my friend's dad's 2001 vert m3.

E36 is just okay, but the M3 version is built to a higher standard. Best handling car of the 90s, period.

You may remember the motorcycle accident I was involved in, in 2008, I posted about it here. It's time for another fun automobile.

technically I could afford an E46 or E30, but spending that kind of money on either of those cars is irresponsible for me right now.

The plan is, to drive the car for the rest of school, and then track it.

I don't mean to come off like "that guy", but maintenance budget isn't really a problem.

every day i change my mind on this. It's vexing.

I'll probably take it down to vir occasionally for driving events.

And depending on how that goes, who knows. If I got the wrx, maybe take it to strip once in a while.

Another thing that might be worth mentioning is insurance costs.

I've heard WRX insurance costs can be ridiculous. But then i've never heard about the E36 costs.

M3 all the way. And getting that will gain you entrance to the "Super Super Secret Underground Nico club."
