So my knock sensor or sensors were set off by a bad chain guide tensioner that was making a tapping noise. Anyway long story short i fixed the issue and it runs smooth. The only problem i have now is that the knock sensor is still set off and the car is still in limp mode or running on retarded timing. My question is, do the sensors have to be replaced after being triggered or are they supposed to reset after? -93 q45

The sensors don't get tripped... just think of them as microphones for the ECU. The ECU won't throw a knock sensor code when they're just detecting noise... the code you got before was the "these aren't working" code all along. Check out the service manual for info on ohm testing yours to confirm the problem. It's available at www.infinitiservicemanual.com
