Another knock sensor issue

My ecu is giving me the error 34 knock sensor code. I ran my ohm meter from the ECU pin to the end of the connector for the knock sensor and get a half ohm resistance and when I turn it on volts DC, with the ignition on but the motor off Im seeing 7.5-7.8 volts through the line, sometimes dropping down to 3.8v. Whats the cause of this? Would running a new wire to the knock sensor do anything for it, or is it kaput?
