Alrighty, i read through about 100 threads and cant find anyone with the same problem i have, so dont blow up on me if there is one, i may have missed one.

I have a 92 240sx, and i recently bought a cold air intake system for it. i installed it with the help of a local mechanic, but now the car will not idle at less than 4,000rpms. i have tried disconnecting the battery and all that jazz with no luck. and i was wondering if someone here could shed some light on my situation. thanks

Jon

4,000 is alot, is your maf connected correctly? check the ecu for codes.

Either a leak somewhere or some sensor is tripping.

Car's default idle rpm is 650-700

I've personally never seen cars idle around 4k.

And how would I go about checking that? I screwed around with it a little, but it didnt amount to much. Specifically, how should I go about doing this check? Much Thanks.

first, check for leaks, it will be a big leak, second, make sure all hoses that came off of the oem are on the new one. check for leaks by listening for air. check the ecu for codes, it will tell you if it is a sensor or what.

did you try checking you throttle cable or cruise cable to make sure there is not any tension on it.

check that maf is connected and again hoses. Some intake don't come w/certain connections and you have to plug some hoses.

make sure you dont have any foreign material in your butterfly valve in the throttlebody. This actually happened to me once. Got pics of the intake? It might help us figure out your prob.
