Probably a few things wrong here, but I'll start with the most recent. I've had a check engine light on for a month or so - don't have the codes yet but it's been driving okay except for a stall out once a month or so.
the othe day I drove it for about 2 hours and then it wouldn't start. It was cranking but it wouldn't start up. It sounded like it wasn't getting fuel. I turned the key and listened for the fuel pump. I kept turning the key off and on without cranking to prime it. Finally I got it started and drove it home. It wouldn't start again.
I finally got it started again. IN PARK when i hit the gas - it goes up to 2-3k rpm and then comes all the way down quick and stalls out. Once in a while it will almost stall and then quickly kick back up to 800 and idle fine. If I let it idle for a while it might stop.
THIS IS WHAT I NOTICED. After it stalls I CAN HEAR what sounds like a surging from the enging compartment. I thought it was a fuel pump type sound but maybe not. It's 3 quick surges and then 4 surges. and then another separate electric type noise coming from a different part of the engine compartment.
without pointing in any direction - i did just have the front motor mount replaced. I know that some rec to not hook up the electronics for these - could this be the sound? could it be the fuel pump activating intermittantly ? MAFs? OTHER?
ill try and get the codes this week. I don't want the ecm fried. it drives ok when started. but cuts out if I give it too much gas
thanks
