Hello, I recently purchased a 1998 Pathfinder and the right headlight now only works on highbeam. I bought a new bulb and the results are the same.

I have swapped fuses and both work fine and produce the same results (left light works fine, right light only works in high).

There is no headlight relay in my relay box, is this normal?

This is a U.S. car, not canadian.

Any tips? I am thinking that the plastic connector that the bulb plugs into is bad or a loose wire in it.

Thanks!

AFAIK the actual headlight socket can be unclipped (I saw the headlight harness earlier today at the junkyard). Swap out the other socket and see if the problem moves. Also try testing the voltages at the socket with a multimeter. If the sockets test out fine, then probably the light switch might be the problem, requiring a new stalk.

I'm not sure why you don't have a headlight relay, can you take a picture of the relay box open with its cover visible above it?

'98 FSM doesn't show a headlight relay. I think the later cars got them because they had battery saver that turns off the lights
if your forget, and automatic headlights.

It's really simple: it's going to be the socket, combo switch on the stalk, or the Red with Black stripe wire between the two.

Both low beams share a common 15A fuse, so it's not the fuse.
High and low beams on the each side share a common ground, it's not the ground.

Thanks,
Are the sockets in fact replacable? I will look into switching the sockets around tomorrow.
Is the switch on the stalk easy to get to? I could play with that tomorrow as well.

Thanks
