Another fuel pump post!

So I saw a post about fuel pumps and brought up a interesting question for me. I am wanting others advice on what I should do about my fuel pump, heres a list of current mods:

Injen intake with cold air extension \ Hotshot headers \ Apexi N1 exhaust \ Unorthodox racing underdrive pulley \ Apexi SAFC II \ NGK wires \ Competition Stage 2 clutch & Chromoly(sp?) flywheel \ also a 300zx fuel filter

So my problem is sometimes when getting on the gas I notice it hesitates a little almost as if it isn't getting the fuel needed in time. Any suggestions on what if anything should be done to the fuel pump or ignition system? Any advice is appreciated!

BAHHHH!!!!! lol i have the same problem, kinda kicks a bit when getting on the gas, and it seems horrible when its running cold. i think its my fuelpump too, and you might be asking too much from it if its oem and you have your safc cranked up high. specially if it is oem original from your year make lol...im waitin on my new one.

lol... yeah I'm only the 2nd owner of the car and I'm pretty sure its the original pump. haha I guess 15 years might be a bit much to ask of it.

im starting to wonder if it might be the tps also..know how much they are?

i've got something similar...kinda. well you see i just got my car and swapped a 95 ka engine in it. when idling it stutters like mad. i just did a engine flush and new oil and filter. any ideas?

is it timed correctly? hows your exhaust:original cat? ->if its your original cat, it could be clogged up. bad fuel injectors, bad fuel pressure (could be pump)charging system. does it only shudder at idle?

well i've only had the car for about a week, so i'm still getting used to all the stuff. It does only stutter at idle but it also stutters at anything before 1500 rpms(when not in gear). don't know if the exhaust is stock but it very well could be + some little gay tip idk how to check the injectors and the fuel pump so any help would be appreciated. i'm gonna go look around and see if i can find anything else on the injectors, wires, pumps etc...thanks

I doubt it's your fuel pump. Check you timing, check you plugs, check your plug wires, and check your TPS. If you want to know how to do any of these, search. And after you search and find you need a multimeter to check your tps, go buy one at wally world or something, they are only 10 bucks. Oh, you may also have a vacuum leak.

dont leave out the IAC, Knock sensor, and the coolant temp sensor. if you dont know what you are doing when i come to diagnosis of these parts, then have someone else do it, or start waisting money by replacing the cheaper parts first.

gee thanks lol, i do need to figure out how to test my tps tho. i have an safc and when you restart the system for it, like unplugging it or something, you need to reset the things in it, and one of the things it asks for is throttle %. so first you floor it (engine off, key on) then let it open same thing engine off key on. it puts out a percentage then thats it. idk if that has any complication or w/e with the tps. help?

The tps is a little black box on the right side of the throttle body that can be adjusted just like the distributor, it doesn't really matter what the afc says because you are telling it what to say (does that make sense?) The way I found out my tps was permanently set 20% forward was with a consult to usb cable.

Anyway, try to unplug it for a bit and see if your idle settles down. If it does, it's probably the tps, if it doesn't, it could still be the tps + anything else that we have already mentioned.

Have you tried seafoaming it as well? steadied the idle and reduced the hesitation of my first motor

Man, you know it could even be your knock sensor. you rev, the engine torques and if that thing is loose or badly cracked it could think it registered knock and suddenly pull timing.

alright guys, so before i was able to check all that stuff out guess what? my freaking car broke down. so i'm driving after exiting the bridge, meaning lots of clutch movement since there was traffic all the way up the bridge, and i turn on to the freeway. start to step on it and i notice the car act weird, how i don't know but weird. so then i hit 5th and everything is fine...cruising now. then i decide to shift back to 3rd and check out how things are working...gets to about 5g's and has a lot of trouble going more so i shift to fourth and step on it, goes a little more and then just stops accelerating. so i get of the highway and i shift to neutral and it just turns off. so i get to a light and turn it on (with a lot of trouble) and are finally able to drive it a couple blocks to my friends house. every time i stopped it would die and it started gettting hot. heard the water gurgling out of my broken reservoir tank. so then i wake up the next day and check for fluid in the radiator, nothing. then i look under the car and there was red oil underneath. coming kind of from a cv boot, probably somewhere above it. SO NOW I'M DEVASTATED AND NEED HELP!!! PLEASE HELP PPL
