I have to agree with all thats been said so far. I've done a lot of research and I will be going with the Infiniti Elite plan with either a $0 or $100 deductible (still weighing the differences in cost/payback). The other "3rd party" plans have loop holes, out clauses and require YOU to pay upfront and then try and collect from the warranty/insurance company -- good luck on that.
Infiniti has an official "plan/price book" for their warranties, but just like buying the car, "everything is negotiable". Now, granted, there is no factory incentives or customer rebates on these warranties, but there is some decent profit to the selling dealer (estimates range, depending on the plan, from 40% to 70%) So, shop around different Infiniti dealers.
You will need to call the F&I manager at the dealerships and ask (they are the ones that sell the warranties - not the service department). I recommend calling or dropping in on the last day of the month to purchase, as they are usually "hungry" and these plans make them money. I was offered $200 off the Elite plan that retails around $1750 -- and that was just asking "by the way, do you ever discount these things"? I'd imagine there might be a little more wiggle room if you pushed harder, but not sure.Theres a fixed cost and everything above is dealer profit.
To your last point, if you buy an Infiniti Elite plan (and I would reiterate what's been said here in this forum, do NOT even waste your $$ on a aftermarket 3rd party plan...) you can use it at ANY legitimate Infiniti dealership in the country.
It's a bet you are placing -- you are betting that your roughly $2K warranty cost will be more than offset by the cost or repairs covered outside the factory standard warranty. On a $50K car, that might be a decent wager to make.
