Simple answer.... NO.

You dont have the time or the money.

Buy a Supra, and leave this forum.

You can put in a 2jz, but expect well over 10,000 dollars for a stock engine. On 6k you could get a bpu SR20 with install. Enjoy your day.

i did a little reading on the sr20's and alot of them are from japan and not street legal here except with a whole bunch of work. would u happen to know of any websites where i could look at street legal sr20's?

there is no such thing as a street legal SR20. Also, putting in a 2jz wouldn't be street legal either.

You live in Florida, from what Ive read from other peoples posts you dont have any emissions. In short you can have an SR20DET and not have to worry about the state finding out about it. Im not sure if you guys in FL get as hassled as the guys in CA but if you do then maybe the SR isnt the wisest option.

If the car is in good condition, then you could probably get an SR20DET putting possibly 280-320 to the ground (IMHO) if you are a wise shopper.

thanx for all the help guys, im now looking at getting a red top s13 sr20det and replacing the turbo right away (only 7 psi boost stock). what would be the best turbo to get on a 3k budget, assuming i do the install myself. the 3k has to include all the necessary upgrades (fuel injectors, etc.).

I wouldn't upgrade the turbo on a 3k budget, a turbo upgrade will cost half of your budget. : ) Fuel injectors will run like 500 dollars, then you need a fmic, thats like 800-1000, you'll want a clutch thats like 300, you'll need a fuel pump 129, you'll need fuel control with a low cost solution like apexi for 300, or a JWT for 500, or standalone for 1000+, you'll want boost control if you go electronic yer looking at like 400-500. That doesn't leave much room for a turbo upgrade. : ) You may as well upgrade everything else and while the engine is out do something like a metal headgasket for another 200, and then just upgrade the turbo and manifold later. Might as well put in a LSD for like 200-300, theres all kinds of other parts you should do rather than dropping 800-2000 dollars on a turbo + extra for a new manifold if you don't get a T25 flange turbo. Enjoy your day.

alright, if i do everything listed, what kind of speed gain am i looking at for the 1/4 mile? also, the factory turbo on the sr20det (s13 version) is listed at putting out 7psi but will supposedly go to 13-14, what is a safe level to operate it at without worrying about engine damage or turbo damage?

14-15 Eventually it will run out of its efficiency range at 18psi. You may be able to break into the 12's but Id expect thirteens with those mods. IMO

Its way out of its efficiency range at 18 psi, 14-15 is its max range, I usually suggest 13-14. At 18 psi you can hit very high twelves with a good driver, but your turbo won't last long. : )

$6k budge, you can get a SR swap + turbo upgrade ... SR are lighter engine with no traction problem!! my buddy try 2jz-ge into an IS300 having traction problem it's too heavy and lot of tunning involve...
