another EGR valve???

What is the other Valve that is located by the exhaust manifold that recurcualtes exhaust bak into the intake air box? (it has a black box). Is it safe to remove it and what is it meant to do?

That's the PAIR system. Apparently you run abnormally rich at idle without it, but the valve can get stuck open and dump exhaust into the intake.

so is that called the AIV system? i heard that mentioned somewhere but wasnt sure what it was. also where is the reset button on an s13 ECU becuase my car idles kinda funny for the first minute or so even with everything still on the engine. it goes from 1000 to 1100 rpm every second or so and then it finally drops down and idles at 700. any reason why it would do that? thanks, chase
