I have read so much on my door lock issue. Mine basically freak out when I press lock or unlock on the remote or door switch. It shakes a bit and then goes back to whatever position it was in. I have isolated the problem to the drivers door. Sometimes the car won't lock by pressing the lock button on the remote, it will seemed lock but you have to push it down a little bit more manually to actually have it lock. The other day I shut my door with te car running and it locked itself, that was the first time it did that....Question I have: Do I need a latch, actuator, or both?

I am not a Infiniti tech so take this with a grain of salt. I have learned the lock/actuator "communicate" to each other by a little lever. This lever gets stuck. That is where the problem comes from. I think it is part of the latch. If you can still open your door, take off door panel. Move the lock back and forth and watch the levers, move to the actuator. Then at the top/back by the latch there is a lever that connects them. I think it gets caked up with gunk. Spray a lub into it and make it work alot. Do it till it moves freely. IMO this should help you out

Ok, sorry if I not understanding perfectly what you are talking about, but this is what I have done already:I have taken apart my door and found what I believe to be the actuator (the part of the system that actually moves the lever to lock and unlock the door). I disconnected the lever (that goes to the lock that you see by the handle) to take any resistance away from the mechanism and it still does the same thing. Now what I am trying to find out is if the latch is messed up would it cause any "resistance" to the actuator to make it not function properly or does it just sound like I need to replace the actuator?

I know it's not much money for both parts and I guess the best thing to do would just replace both, but I am wondering first if anyone else had had the same experience and which part is more likely the culprit. I have also heard the latch is a pain in the A$$ to replace. Any feedback would be great, thanks.

It's hard to explain, but there is a mechanical connection between the latch and actuator. That is where all the problems are. look between the latch and actuator while moving the lock. You'll see a short lever sticking out of latch. this is what needs to be lubed and worked to make it work again. To stop the locks from twitching- I unplugged the drivers door actuator, till I can get a new latch, or whatever.

No problem. I couldn't get anyone to answer so i started messing around with it. Then I posted how I did it so it might help someone else. i can't see paying $500 to fix it.
