ok so tonight i was driving down on campus , and my car just decides it wants to idle at 100rpm and begins missing blowing billows of black smoke at idle. it wouldnt rev over 1500RPM, adn when i took off the MAF connect, it would rev up and idle high but steady. ive been having spuratic stalling and problems with throttle for some time now , i push the gas and nothing let off then push it would buck forwards and go. for a while i thought it was the fuel pump. but after tonight i think its for sure the maf....

now my question is what is killin them? can the maf self destruct if its run past its effieceny for to long? like 12psi on a t28 can it burn it self up>?? also i cleaned off the filament with electrical cleaner while its helped some its still running like **** and not at all spuraticly ! one second it will rev up fast and go onto boost smooth and powerfull, next second misfiring bucking and billowing smoke.

AHHH:mad:

I wouldn't think 12psi on a T28 would be outside of the dection range of the MAFS, but I could be wrong. Regardless, I wouldn't think running too much air through it would hurt it, UNLESS, the cold side filiment is having too much juice run through it trying to keep up and it's frying the element prematurely. If this is indeed possible, then I would say yes, it's plausable to keep frying them. I think you need to break down and either upgrade the MAFS or convert to a MAPS system. I'm all about the MAPS system cuz there's no restriction to the intake path. But it can be pricey to convert...

You scare me. I'd shoot myself if my swap turns out to be as much trouble as yours has been. I did get the oil pan off today and I wasn't impressed. The whole bottomw end had oil coking. I'll bet the Turbo's crap. Anyone got a wastegate for a T28?
