Not sure if many knew, but the stock oil pump has the same spur gear design as a lot of dry sump oil pumps. Bought a dry sump system and just happened to compare them today.

I should have some pictures by tomorrow but currently the plan is to actually use the dry sump pump solely for the scavenge and use the stock oil pump for the supply. If that doesn't do it I'll just do a standard dry sump setup but I don't have any doubts that this will get the job done. This will give me a little more oil capacity but more importantly, a very slim oil pan so that I can mount the engine as low as possible and not have to screw with changing the design for a rear sump setup. Plus, dry sump systems can actually increase power by reducing windage and it can also put a vacuum on the crankcase, which is known for increasing power.

Going to work on the pan soon so I'll have some updates and pictures for you guys.

Great news mark!!!

So if I understand correctly you will be feeding the oil directly into the stock oil pump (in the same area where the filter goes) and having a seperate pump for scavenge...

I see this setup being VERY clean, possibly without being able to tell you have a dry sump, or at least very minor compared to most systems!!!

Actually I'm just going to run a pickup tube from the stock location to the side of the pan where there will be an AN fitting. The outlet of the tank will be connected directly to that fitting for a perfect feed of oil.

The only thing I haven't decided on is where I want the third line. I'm definitely doing two scavenge points in the oil pan. From what I've found most guys running 4+ stage pumps use one stage for the head(s)... what's weird is it appears they only hook it up to one head, which doesn't make much sense to me. They may run two hoses to the single stage but I'm not sure.

Though... I just had a pretty cool idea run through my head. I could even use the last stage of the pump as a transmission cooler if I wanted to. Those trannies do get pretty warm... hmm.... this has me really thinking now. Plus, I don't think the VH would have an issue of oil puddling in the heads by the looks of it. There seems to be sufficient drain holes in the heads so that may not be a bad idea really. Now to just find out if the pump will handle the higher viscosity.

Pictures! I need a few more parts but overall it was a steal for this many parts, plus the pump appears to be in great condition internally.

Got this in the mail today as well. Its used, as you can tell, but I saved a little bit going that route. Going to pick up an ACT 6-puck this weekend. Its all coming together pretty well now.

Sweet. I am thinking that some flywheel pads can be turned over and you can use the other side of them. Is yours built like that?

Its possible... but I personally wouldn't recommend it. With the RPS it wouldn't be as bad as the others if you can though. The others that use a one piece would be a bad idea... maybe even next to impossible as they tend to warp really bad.

In the end you really, really, REALLY should get the flywheel and pressure plate balanced before installing them and RPS will do that for you as well as change the friction surfaces for $125 + shipping, which is a pretty good deal.
