Nice looking too.

Now we're torn. RS6 Avant or RS6 sedan? Both are packing the same twin-turbocharged, direct-injected 5.0-liter V10 putting out 580 hp and 479 lb.-ft. of torque. Both send power to all four wheels through a six-speed tiptronic transmission and both can be equipped with absolutely massive 420mm (front) and 356mm (rear) ceramic brakes.

Thanks Autoblog for yet another dream.

Audis are sexy. Too bad they are related to VW. I hate VWs with a passion.

When will Dodge ever unveil a 4WD, 10 cylinder, 8.0L twin turbo Viper?????

Vipers are crazy.

This Audi has much to be desired... It looks like a late 90's model, grandpa would drive with basic upgrades... 5.0 L v10 is crazy... It's not that nice though, I like the look of G35's better anyway... we can put on a couple turbos and keep up right? right?

It kinda reminds me of the G8 from pontiac, big displacement, big heavy car, I'm sure the Audi has a bit more sex appeal, but it's sad that german engineering is stuck in the 20th century, from a visual perspective, I'm not knocking the powerhouse . Thoughts?

RN79870:

This car has always been a beast from the very first day it was built by Audi. I have always loved it. They stopped making them for a while as a result of internal political squabbling in Volks Wagon Germany betweeen the then Chairman and the CEO---CEO eventually got fired and the Chairman had his way with producing fast and furious Audis.

This car is to the A6, what the ISF is to the IS350. I think it has a wagon version as well called the avant, which has tested pretty well in Germany. The wagon version is the ultimate soccer mum ride---haul naughty and troublesome kids with plenty of space around town, and yet have fun flogging the ride without mercy--wil outrun many cars its size. When the car first came out, it used to be a V-8 pushing 420 horses. Those who owned it were extremely pleased with the RS-6. Even the Wall Street Journal tested this vehicle and they were thoroughly pleased with its performance. The RS-6 actually became a cult car as a result. And yes, I would put the RS-6 on the same league as the Nisssan GTR. This is a capable car.

Jacko

how would you explain it in the same leage as a GTR... This is a 5.0 L V10 With twin turbos!

IF nissan did that they would have a 1000HP Monster!

Plus it is a People hauler! I would say this is in the same Class as say

A Hores and Wagon But really in the class of M5, E63 AMG Not GTR!

I would agree with you. I only said so because of earlier models of RS-6 that had about similar horsepower ratings as a GTR, except they did so with a V-8. Of course, the upcoming Honda NSX which is a competitor to the GTR will be arriving with a V-10, no different from the RS-6. Another comparison to the GTR is the All Wheel Drive system---Audi is also master of AWD systems just as Subaru. Also include the backseats for comparisons.

Also, Nissan has no intention to develop a V-8 or a V-10, at least none that I know of, to do the same thing the RS-6 or E63 does. I suspect Nissan wants to master the V-6 planet with unchallenged authority just as Porsche has done. Btw, the GTR has been found to be able to produce close to 600HP or more--it is seriously restricted as a stock car. The RB26DETT engine, which was used by previous Skyline models, could easily produce 600HP. Remeber, the VR38DETT engine of the GTR is based on both the RB26DETT and VQ35DE/HR engine.

So, i would say that there is a lot of comparison with the RS-6. I would dare say that the market both companies are seeking maybe different. Perhaps, Audi is perfectly comfortable with a V-10 instead of a V-6. Only company happy with a six cylinder doing the job of an 8 or 10 cylinder, is a porsche.
