hey..i'm not really worried about this problem..i did a search a few times looking to see if ne1 had the same, but nothing really came up, unless i'm looking for the wrong thing :P. I do realize sr's do not like the cold weather..especially w/ temps down to below freezing. my sr does not want to idle until it has been running for maybe 3 minutes w/ my foot on the gas keeping it alive. after that everything runs fine..no bogging, no nothing, boost is fine..etc. etc. etc. ne1 have any ideaz? or is this supposed to happen :O

mine has been doing the same thing. its been taking around 10 minutes of driving (non boost)to even start to warm up according to the meter. it also idles @ 1500rpm when its cold. once it warms up its been idling @ 1000rpms.

I think there's something wrong with your engines. All engines are built the same and function the same way.

It recently started getting cold here, and my car will start up fine and idle at around 1200 to 1500.

The temp here has been below freezing in the morning and my starts and idles just fine. After if warms up it idles at 700 like it always does.

I know right after the swap I had a bad maf and it wouldnt let you touch the gas without wanting to die and the idle was pretty rough.

My SR is fine in the cold, I finished the swap in Jan/03, and have driven it ever since... I live in Ottawa Canada, it's been known to get real cold here :-) Mine starts fine, fast idles upto as much as 2500rpm, but then once warm idles at 750 .

I have been having problems with another swap I've done though.. it's been a real biatch.. it won't idle down from fast idle, and no throttle response until it's warm. I tried a different MAF, different temp sensor, tested 02.. I'm thinking TPS now... waiting to get it back from the body shop.

Check the timing, that was a big prob on my friends. We checked mine with his timing gun and it said mine was very retarted. Then we set his as close to mine and my god was it a big difference.

It was a walmart gun btw

I've checked the timing many times... I've run into the problem of timing being way off before, usinga snap on gun, apparently they require a resistive wire or they don't work right. Now rather than using the little loop of wire at the backof the head I use a coil wire on #1 plug between it and the coil pack.

I have the same problem on mine. Got to keep it alive for the first 30 or so seconds and even then the idle is very low (around 600-800 rpm). Runs great after it warms up. Today it was very cold and now the car won't turn over at all. Not sure if it is the weather or what, but any suggestions would be helpful.

I also have a problem starting my car when it's cold. It doesn't want to crank over, but when I apply my foot to the gas it stumbles and dies, but after a few times it starts up and idles and runs fine. I don't have a functional tach (I know why) or a water temp (I have no clue why it isn't working). I have a 90 240sx with a s13 redtop.
