My ma has a super clean 1999 Q45. About two weeks ago the car stumbled at idle and the check engine light came on... and it's staying on...

We took it to the dealer and they told us its the coil for the No 1 cylinder that is causing the trouble and it needs to be replaced at 400 dollars along with the rest of the 7 coils.

My question to you guys, i was looking on line and I found that i could buy a coil for 112 bucks from autopartswarehouse.com so does that coil fit all 8 coils???

Also, besides new spark plugs is there anything else that I need to do this job by myself??

Skip autopartswarehouse and go with Joe! You get guaranteed OEM quality and great customer service. He's having a sale that makes them even less than $75 each. Check out the thread in the Q45 forum for the discount code.

I would only use OEM NGK plugs.

You need the FSM and a good torque wrench.

Clear the codes in the ECU and switch the coilpack. When a code is thrown again, if it follows the coil pack, that coilpack is at fault and you just need to replace that one, not the other 7 also.

Use the specified NGK PFRG plug only! Unless you are in the desert, probably 5 for you.

You don't need anything special here, just replace that coil and only replace the sparkplugs if they are due or close to the end of their life.

Don't touch the other coils unless you plan on replacing them-there is no evidence of this yet but pulling old ones off may cause them to fail earlier.

Not with a decent code reader.
