My ma has a super clean 1999 Q45. About two weeks ago the car stumbled at idle and the check engine light came on... and it's staying on...

We took it to the dealer and they told us its the coil for the No 1 cylinder that is causing the trouble and it needs to be replaced at 400 dollars along with the rest of the 7 coils.

My question to you guys, i was looking on line and I found that i could buy a coil for 112 bucks from autopartswarehouse.com so does that coil fit all 8 coils???

Also, besides new spark plugs is there anything else that I need to do this job by myself??

Welcome to NICO!

The stumbling issue with our cars is very well known (the 97-01's). It is an injector issue. I would recommend purchasing from:

http://www.everythinginfiniti.com

Call them when you place your order, and let them know you're coming from this forum. They typically treat you pretty well there, although some complain about part misships. A simple injector will be no problem I'm sure.

It's cheaper and the correct part. Easy to change with the Factory Service Manual, which is available in one of the sticky threads in this forum.

You don't need anything special, just basic tools and an hour or so. Just be delicate!

Good luck!

If you have one bad coil just buy one and replace it yourself. They do fail early than expected but the only reason to replace all 8 is if you dont have a code for a specific cylinder.

good luck!

My 99 Q45t was doing the same thing for about a year now. I finally ordered the coils from infinitipastsusa.com for $75 each and put them in over the weekend. WOW, it's like having a new car. No more missing, rough idle or lack of power. The dealer in Cincinnati wanted $1177 dollars to install/fix or was selling them for $111 each. It took my about an hour to do it and i am not that mechanically inclined. Just wish I could get the Turbine Sensor fixed for less then a $1000.

Turbine sensor was about $125, plus 4 hrs. labor? Should be well short of $1K.
