Well I have purchased a 91 hatch a month ago. Decent shape, minimul rust( I guess). This is my third one, but first since about 2 years ago and now I have a real job and will make it what the other two were supposed to. I learned a lot from those two tho doing a DOHC swap and countless other repairs. Anyway I bought the car from a used car lot where I just happened to see it. I was going to need a car soon so I picked it up. I ran it for three days and it conked out. After looking for a while I found a dist and it back up again. So far I,ve done nothing besides clean it real good and remove the spoiler that was eating the hatch and tune up/dizzy change. I am looking for a wingless wiperless hatch and for now just put outdoor all-weather tape over the hole painted to match(cheap, but works great knowing this is only for a month max until I locate a new hatch.

some neat looking datsun 280zx wheels Im going to use for my winter tires I bought for $30. I'm gonna paint them black

6.5" speaker adapters I made today. They aren't perfect because I don't have a saw yet and used a dremel. I traced the oem 4x6 bracket and then traced the template that came with the sony's I bought yesterday in the middle. I then drilled the outline and then cut it out the rest with the dremel( it sucked and took like 3.5 hours I was just determined to get those made today. When I was done I used the dremel for something else I needed to do and it blew up! Literally it popped loud as hell and POURED smoke! Scared the hell outta me but it was something to see.

really the only bad spot of rust, but its on both rockers pass and driver. That sucks, but in the spring its gonna get fixed jut need to figure out how or where to get it done. Any ideas? I will have my whole tool setup in the spring so I think im going to do it myself.
Tomorrow I am going to install the audio. I still need to cut the door panels to mount the tweeters, install x over on door, mount my 6x9 boxes and speakers in the rear, run all new speaker wire, and install the headunit. I post pics of it all tomorrow. After that I am going to order a set of coilovers megan probably, or stance depends on how much I save the car needs struts so I figure I might as well since the strut mounts look old too.
My plans for the car are probably an sr swap in the spring. The swap is definite, but I'm still not 100% decided on an SR. My power goal is between 260-300 whp so I may go RB since less engine mods would be necessary. Cost isn't the deciding factor entirely. I mean I by no means have unlimited funds, but I will be coining up I don't want to be naive enough to think I'm getting into a budget build for the final product I have in mind. With that said I am just going to research which option would be cheaper to run those numbers reliably as a DD occasional track day car
Plans: next 1 month: Fix struts with coilover replacement, install amp, small stuff like find a new door panel, hatch, recover glovebox(Ill post whatever I do)
After that: Accumulate parts for swap, finish buying tools welder, air comp, etc.
This is going to be a slow thread at first with me showing the audio stuff, coils, and other little misc stuff here and there and the parts I will be using. Then in the spring me and my GF will be moving to a house with a garage and I will start the real fun of turning this into as high end a sports car as a 240sx can be. I don't mean a 700hp godzilla or the fastest one. I would ultimately like to have good power, with the 180sx type x oem aero and racelogic Traction/launch control, tein with EDFC or similar etc etc. I started this thread early with inspiration from m tr4nch's build and from reading his thread I thought it might be a good idea to start right at the beginning. Tomorrow I will update with many many more pics just haven't got that many yet.

Thanks. I just finished the audio install for today. I put 6.5 components in the front and 6x9s in the back. It sounds nice linked to the JVC HU I got. I got the speakers and HU for $99 on clearance from crutchfield with all necessary wiring and jvc 6x9s free with it and the sony components from wall mart. My GF's dad is giving me an amp this weekend that im going to use for the fronts and if its a 4 channel then I'll do the rears too. If that doesnt give me enough bass im gonna get a bass tube or under seat sub. I'm not looking to thump just give a nice clean thud if you know what I mean almost like a new car would be.
PS. I didn't get pics today due to being really busy, but I'll have to take the doors off and remove the xovers to wire em to the amp so when I do the amp istall I'll document it with pics since i wont have so much going on with all the other stuff plus I'm sure evryone here knows how to install this stuff so final pics of inside the door are all that I'll get.

looks like you have a good plan, but 260-300 is easily achieved with an sr, but if you do a different swap you should do something vh/vg/vq.... if you have "deep pockets yo"

Update..... Got rear ended today and my car seems pretty ok knowing the hyundai looked to be totalled, but now my rear bumber doesn't line up today. I will be away all weekend, but next week ill take the bumper cover off an inspect what happened. Since i got the car dizzy quit, someone cracked my windshield, and now this. I might buy another one I think this car may be doomed.
