I searched, and came up with nothing. So, I'm sorry for posting a question that I know for a fact has been posted many times before. For some reason, I can't find one of these posts.

Anyhow, what is the safety threshold, in terms of max psi, for a KADET with stock head gasket? At what boost levels do they commonly blow?

I'm running 10psi now on a VERY small turbo that makes stupid heat and crappy hp. I have a T3/T04E in route now and expect to have it installed by next week. I'm looking to run about 8psi on this turbo with my setup until I can upgrade to BikiRom, Z32 MAF and 550's.

By the way, here's a bit of data:KA24DET (S13) approaching 180k milesSAFC2370's255 pumpStock MAFFMICBase timing at 15* BTDC.

Thank in advance for any help/advice on this setup. Again, I'm still pretty new at this, and I don't wanna blow my mill.

well if ur referring to a stock head gasket, it can hold up to 20+psi assuming ur tuned correctly.

That's the exact detail I was seeking, thank you. I plan on only running 12-14psi when I upgrade to BikiRom and all that jazz.

Thanks again Jook!

Ok, I am definately going to have to catch you around town one day when I go back.. That is the turbo I am planning on using whenever I get my project really started.

hehe that's cool man. You'll get to see it soon, anyhow, because we're gonna go run the Dragon, remember? I've worked out a pretty fun drive and I'll be posting it over in the Regional forum today or tomorrow.

Oh yeah, I remembered that but I thought I was too late. Didn't hear anything else about it. I can't wait. Just have to make sure I get off that weekend.

What are you using for tuning, S13drft89?

If you have no timing control, you should just park it on about 15* BTDC and leave it until you get some sort of timing control (i.e. JWT/Enthalpy tune, BikiRom, BTM, Stand Alone, E-Manage, etc.).

just to clarify, i didnt say to run 20+ psi on the t3/t4..............turbo specs and ur overall setup will determine if that is possible or proper to run. his question was in reference to the stock headgasket. for timing s13drft89, retard ur base timing to 15 at the least. try to get a hold of a scan tool so that ur overall timing is 20 (but u can only tell ur overall timing with the scantool hence y i said that). hope this helps

Oh, KATwo40.. Have you already ordered your BikiRom? I am wanting one but I am trying to wait for the Group Buy on KA-T.org to go through. You probably need yours pretty quick though. I have quit a bit of time yet.. Let me know how it works when you do get it.

Haha.. +1 for a pointless post from Tim..

no, i dont have a timing controller, iam only using a apexi, and a dyno shop to tune it. And as for a "scan tool" where might you think i can go, because i know a shop with a timing gun, and the timing can be adjusted from the gun. Would that help any?? thanks-Ricky
