Had an appointment today with Frank Hill to install some parts I scored during the Infiniti of Scottsdale March special,and had another great experience with this shop and Franks work ethics.

Frank replaced my starter, rack bushings, oil pressure switch, fuel filter, and changed my oil and filter in less than 4 hours time{and thats with me in the bay talking all things Infiniti with him, and a few other distractions}

Frank took excellent care of the ole Q, cleaning all traces of oil from the block left by the seeping oil pressure switch and oil filter replacement-even took the time to prefill new oil filter and use a new crush washer on the drainplug! Interior and exterior of car were left spotless{I had washed and waxed the car just yesterday}

2 interesting cars in the shop today that caught my attention- a G37 coupe Frank had installed a big brake kit on{12 piston front calipers, 6 piston rears, and rotors the size of satellite dishes} and a twin turbo motor to make use of those brakes! The other car was a factory Nismo Z, almost new with 13K on the clock in for fresh oil/filter,looking mean in black!

On the trip home, I immediatly could feel the difference the new rack bushings made,steering is sharp and precise- took a little "getting use to" at 3000 RPM cruise on the highway

So, did I call the time or what?

I always bring my own crush washers.

Does he not have a BG or Sun ATF exchange machine?

good to hear you found a place that cares about your car.

qship, please elaborate on your rack bushing worn symptoms and changes with the new bushings.silver has an annoying steering wheel shudder (a bouncing really) when i hit rough pavement on the left front. blacq does not do this.did they lower the subframe to get the rack bushings out?

Hmmmmm.....I have to say DC is more appealing than Atlanta from a cultural and dining aspect.

Bushings were replaced with genuine Infiniti parts. Subframe was not dropped- swaybar was dropped, not sure if that was due to replacement of bushings, starter, or oil pressure switch.Bushing mounts were removed and new bushings sprayed with slippery lubricant{KY?} and slipped into place. Symptoms of my initial problem were visible rack movement when turning wheels when frank inspected the undercarriage.I did not experience any drivability issues, but after new bushings installed, I notice much more accurate and sharper steering response.

Brian, DC is booming coming off the real estate expansion period that just ended- many new buildings, renovations,expansions, and interesting things to see{ 2 of the best are the new "National Harbour"complex on Md shoreline of the Potomac and the News museum.Give me a heads up if you are ever in town.

Sounds like you had a ball!

Just a quick question though. How much did the rack bushings run you? I think I need to have those replaced.

Rack bushings are about $16 for the pair, labor about 3/4 of an hour.

I was in Baltimore so I gave Hill's Garage a try and I agree that Frank is an excellent mechanic. Well worth the trip to have him work on your car. He rebuilt my king pins, replaced pin connectors on air flow sensor adjusted idle and few other minor items. Reasonably priced and more importantly did the work right!

thanks for the referral qship

Rack bushing and boots were super easy. Under two hours including cleanup. Alignment needed after boot replacement.
