As the subject line says, I'm a noob. I have a 1954 Austin A40. In the 1950s Nissan built the A40 in Japan, under license. The Nissan 240SX is a direct linear descendant of the mid-size Nissan/Austin A40 of old. The A40 has a frame not a unibody. I am turning my A40 into a roadster pickup. A Nissan Frontier chassis would be a perfect platform for this car/truck thing. My question to you is basic; is the 2.4 DOHC in the Frontier the same as that in the 240SX? And if it is, are the same performance parts that work with the 240SX also applicable to the 2.4 liter Frontier engine? Please make my day and say yes :-) Also, who among you reside in or near Denver, Colorado? Thanks, Mark.

I think the Truck version is slightly different. The truck version doesn't use a crank girdle or something, but I don't know if they would be interchangeable without alteration or not. You may stand a better chance of getting that answered by someone who actually knows what they're talking about at the KA engine subforum

D21 and Frontier truck motors are very different from the car version. Except when you break the motor down to the block/head/valve cover

yeah, they aren't exactly the same... although I'm not 100% sure what the differences are (could be cam profile, could be just the way the ECU is tuned, etc).
Welcome to NICO!
Post some pictures of that vehicle you're talking about.

Thanks again everyone. I did some checking on the KA forum- got more answers. I have to go to work now. I will try to post a pic of my "vision" tonight.

OK this is the thing I'm talkin' 'bout...
This pic is with the hardtop on. The convertible top is the same as that of a MG Midget or Austin Healey Sprite.

I don't know if the exhaust is on the right side for a 2.4 Nissan Twink or not.

The exhaust on the KA head comes out the driver's side.

Hi Pez. I noticed you have an auto-x truck? Did you run it at d!ck's in Commerce City? I saw a Nissan truck out there, and it seems to me it was black. With regard to my idea above, I watched with interest. I had to leave early so I had no time to say hi.

Cool. We'll have to compare notes. It may be weird, but I'd like to build my both my truck and my car as auto-x capable street cars. Whether or not I want to Solo race them is still an open question, but it's fun to have a tight handling car for the street. The car I'm building is a 4AGE Toyota powered Austin Healey Sprite. Which is why I haven't mentioned it here.

Sorry I didn't reply closer to real-time but I was negotiating some new wheels for my Sprite. I will tell more about it tomorrow. I have to get up early for work. So I gotta turn-in. Thanks for the welcome. Before I go, I will get really sacriligious and tell you that if anyone is interested, I looked at a very cool FSP Solo 2 '86 Corolla GTS. I thought about yoinking the drivetrain for my car, but it wouldn't be any good for the street. It is a well built car for auto-x or drifting. I was impressed with the seller. He's seems a decent no BS guy. Too bad I couldn't use the car.

Sorry I took a month to reply. I had trouble posting the 4AGE Sprite pic. Then started procrastinating etc, etc. Anyway here I will try again to insert my pic.
