Another Air bag question.

So, ive asked an airbag question before but now i must ask another.

When driving alone in the 08 coupe, the passenger air bag light should be ON right? Signalling that the air bag will NOT go off in an accident.

And when there is a passenger, once they buckle in the light is sapposed to go OFF signalling that the air bags will go on incase of an accident rgiht?

So far.. When i drive alone the light is off, so the airbags will go on in an accident. Also when driving with someone, the bag lights sometime indicate there on and sometimes indicate that no bags will go off.

If i bring this problem in and cant show them my problem (Because sometimes the light doesnt work with the passenger) will they fix it?Also, how long will i lose my car for? Will the dealer supply me with another car for the time being?

See the Owner's Manual at 1-50. It should ordinarily be off after 7 seconds of turning the ignition. Basically, the light is on ONLY if the passenger seat is occupied by a person or thing weighing less than some critical amount.

If the seat is entirely unoccupied, the light is OFF and the passenger-side airbag WON'T deploy in a crash.

If the seat is occupied by a person or thing of greater than the critical weight, the light is OFF and the airbag WILL deploy in a crash.

If, however, the seat is occupied by a child or a small adult of less than the critical weight, the light is ON and the airbag WON'T deploy. So the light is only on when it would warn you that the person in the front seat is less than the critical weight, whatever it is.

When the passenger seat is unoccupied shouldnt the light be ON to indicate that the air bags will not deploy in an accident?

well for me.. The passenger light is ON sometimes when my passengers get in the car, my passenger weighs about 120 lbs +- a bit. I think that should be past the critical weight.Shoudl i tkae the car into servicing?
