i thought there was a sticky for the 300zx brake swap, bu ti couldnt find it.

anyway, i wanna do the upgrade, but keep 4 lug, since i already have rims. anyone know of a place that sell the rotors all ready drilled? im willing to pay a little extra to avoid the hassle of finding a place to do it.

thanks, mike

unless they are really nice rims, id sell them and just do the 5-lug. it will open up many more options as far a wheels/brakes. why do you want drilled rotors anyway? unless your having problems with gas build up, don't fix what isnt broken.

um, if i have my rims and i want the 300zx brake's, why would i care about opening up more options for wheels and brakes?

and i meant drilled for the 4 lug bolt pattern. i dont feel like spending an extra couple 100 dollars on a 5 lug swap, and then have to get different rims too.

ya i see what your saying. i am not sure if the 300zx has different caliper distances from the hub, but if it doesn't , then stoptech.com has some great, well engeneered, and expensive rotors. sorry for the misunderstanding.-mike

ugh. i give up. your giving me advice about doing this brake upgrade but then you question wheter the caliper will work? have you not read the 1289719287387857240578 posts about this or noticed the 8745897345978 people that have this swap done?

afaik you can just drill the 4 lug pattern yourself or if you dont feel adequete or dont have the tools any machine shop will do it no prob. im looking to do the same thing. i dont know of a shop that has them premade but im sure they will cost much more than just having them drilled. all you would need is the calipers rotors and hoses from the 300zx and drill the new holes and slap it together. hope that helpsluigi

i don't see why you want drilled rotors unless you have gas build up under the pad durring heavy braking. drilling weakens the rotor structure and makes it more prone to cracking under heavy use. do what you want, but i wouldnt do it without a lot of background research and talking to people who have done it before. im not telling you not to just to be careful and think of the consiquenses before doing it.

holy cow.:tisk: machine shop will drill the holes you need cheap. haven't seen anywhere that sells 300z rotors predrilled FOR THE LUG BOLTS. sounds like someone might be able to turn a buck or two if they ordered a batch from brembo though.

oh god. what a butchered thread.

anyway, hopefully your wheels are 16 inches or above, or the z32 brakes wont fit.

also, having the rotor redrilled for 4 lug is no big deal, although i personally wouldnt do it due to the imbalance created. the holes are only 2.25 inches from the center of the hubs, so it probably woudnt make much of a difference, but i still would not install redrilled rotors on my own car.

Heavy Throttle Performance can sell you redrilled rotors for the Z32 conversion, be prepared to let them know what thickness though.

yeah, thats me. its not gonna be happening for a while though.

i wouldnt even want to think about how much it would cost if i wasnt a mechanic.

i was trying to have it ready by the middle of summer, but my projected parts list exceeds $10K, so its not comming together so quick money-wise.
