Okay well I am starting to rly consider partin gout this car cuz the previous owner did a crap job of putting this car together. So anyways recently my idle screw broke on the throttle body so I replaced with a one from a guy parting on his car on the forums so after I replaced the throttle body I thought I was gonna be good to go. God I guessed wrong again now I have a rough idle it will hit 1k rpm and then 500 and then stall out. On top of that the car is backfiring a lot. So I looked over the motor carefully once again to see what this guy didn't do I noticed the exhaust headers are being held on by 2 bolts? Would that cause any issue also he used dohc spark plug wires on a sohc. The maf is electric taped into the intake. So what could be the issue? Any help would be great. I totalled my sti and I kinda need the car running right asap lol

get a new intake pipe, put that maf on correctly, clean it with maf cleaner while youre at it. then put the bolts/studs back on the header and get that sealed up. im willing to bet your idle issue is the maf. unplug it to tell if thats the problem. if the idle settles, youre issue is probably your maf or a leak after the maf.

Okay so I unplugged the maf and my idle evene out and ran great cept for the backfiring =( so instead of spending 100+ on a new maf should I just upgrade mine finally? Also now what should I do bout the backfiring
